Great restaurant in the heart of the bulldogs club. Would not come here for Yum Cha though, not a very good selection. Full menu is good though and service not bad. Plenty of parking.
I took my wife here for our 2 year anniversary. I had heard lots of good things about this place so I was keen to try it out. The service was excellent, the place looked awesome however I did not enjoy the food as much as I would have hoped. Maybe because I expected too much but for me it definitely did not stand out.
The food all had a common taste. The honey prawns was more honey than prawn and the lamb apart from being way overpriced did not include many vegaetables. All in all I was disappointed with my visit based on earlier reviews. Service was awesome though and ambience was top notch!
We tried, the short soup and we were happy to report no MSG. We also tried the beef with vegetables, lots of MSG here, pity, after such a good start. Salt and pepper prawns were really a 8.5, fried rice was also a very high standard.
The food was served in 5 minutes flat. The kitchen was working that night, the waiters....well we did eventually get taken to a table, and on a 2nd try got our chopstiks.
A Chinese restaurant with a western taste, nice food but not really traditional fair...this is not a judgement just a statement of fact, so the taste will suit a lot of people. We found the choice a little limited, in respect of traditional food which influenced our choice of dishes this time. The restaurant is in the canterbury bulldogs leagues club, the decor is over the top, reminded us of a casino in Las Vegas.
The food is quite good here. I particularly enjoyed the wide range of noodles and rice dishes, particularly the steamed rice with vegetables. Service needs improvement though.
My grandparents are Chinese and frequent this place (lunch, dinner, yum cha, etc etc) so it must be a good sign. As for me, however, this place has nice food but it doesn't have the wow factor. Just good, solid, Chinese food.
One exception is the dan-tart (egg-tart) at yum cha, the last time I had it, it was perfectly flakey and brown and sweet, mmm.
The decor on the other hand, does have the wow factor. It's a great place to take someone if you want a 'nicer' Chinese restaurant (you know, one with tablecloths and carpet). All my friends are impressed at the inside of this place.
Parking is usually available. Only downside is having to "sign in" to enter the restaurant every time due to the restaurant being in an RSL club.
I have been to this restaurant both in a large group function and for dinner for two a few times over and to me, this is the best Chinese food around. The service is excellent, with some staff assigned to waiting tables others to cleaning and others to quality control.
It is a bit expensive but I still rated that an 8 because I don't mind paying for the service and excellent food. The ambience is busy, the private room is lovely under the waterfall and the tables area is surrounded by stylish decoration, blending into the rest of Canterbury leagues club.
I've been here once and I especially love the ambience and decor of the restaurant. Not crowded during weekdays (I came on thursday night, a'la carte dinner). Very pleasant experience. Service was great (maybe because it wasn't jammed packed).
Can't compare this with small Chinese restaurant. Value of money? is what you would expect when dining in a "well-represented" restaurant. You're paying for the decor. Food was ordinary. Everything was okay, including the toilet.
Dynasty Restaurant which overlooks the Brasserie and the cafe beyond has some great Chinese dishes, especially the salt and pepper squid which our party couldn't get enough of. A pleasant surprise was that most of the dishes were served within 10 minutes of ordering. The only fault with this place are the sullen-faced waiters who have a way of slamming down cutlery that the conversation at the table comes to an abrupt halt but they don't seem to notice -or care.
Oh my god, this place is amazing, food absolutely to die for. Service, excellent, value, oh my god, the best chinese by far I have ever had in my life. I will go back for sure, lovely surroundings and lovely food as I said the best chinese restaurant in Australia in my point of view, easily the best in Sydney.
This restaurant was recommended to us by a HK Chinese couple. We went (June 2007) recently as their guest for dinner mid week, with another Chinese couple. I can't comment beyond a 5 on value as I did not see the bill.
We ordered a la carte, not yum cha. The food is authentic Cantonese and the service is swift and courteous. Steamed scallops, Peking Duck, braised beef shanks, special fried rice with prawn roe....Wonderful. What struck me was the expensive fit out. Waterfalls, hanging bridges, Chinese ceramics, customised wooden ceiling panels. All this in a Leagues Club too ! Definitely worth visiting. Don't miss the fire featured volcano by the front entrance.
