We used to love going to this local pub....cheap meals, fast service and friendly. Unfortunately our last couple of experiences there have been very disappointing with very long waits for our meals and increased prices. The food is still fine and it's possible to get a quiet table if you want to talk. However, the new management needs to be careful that in their efforts to make the place more upmarket, they don't alienate existing customers.
I must admit after reading the other reviews I was rather disappointed when we ate here on Saturday. I had the mussels cooked in an over peppered white wine sauce and served with 1 piece of sliced white bread. My partner had a very full flavoured lamb shank that for twenty dollars was served with just chips and no veg or salad.
The wine list was equally unimpressive and failed to note any of the years - how you could pick a 50 dollar bottle without knowing the year is beyond me. Service was brisk though - I wouldn't rush back here though; there is a lot better pub grub in the area. shame really - coz this place could be so good...
Had a small group of 6. went on a Sat. Night. Although I do advise going after 8pm if you'r not a fan of kids running around. Meals were brilliant, and the waitress (Nicole) was fantasic. Job well done. The place was quiet, and great for cozy night in. Keep up the good work. Will be back very soon.
I have been to this place with soccer-mates a few times just for a drink after training. But it was last week that I went there with my wife for dinner. A marvelous $8 scotch fillet steak, brilliant service and atmosphere!!! Highly recommended.
If you have been to this place in the past and been disappointed (as I have) then I urge you to go back and see what this new management have done to the place. The ambience of the hotel is much improved and the food is now high quality pub food at great prices
Attended a midweek lunch for 8 people. After a drink at the bar, went into the restaurant to find we were the only ones there, other than the one guy running the kitchen and staff behind the bar, surprising, since we went to our table around 1:30. Probably because we had to go individually to the bar to place our orders, the overall order lost the plot in terms of entrees and mains and everything came at once after a long wait. However, the food was really good and the staff were very friendly....offered tastings of wines on offer, etc. So overall, it was ok but organisation needs a bit of work. Got the feeling that the owners were new and still working things out so need to continue that work to match the excellent food.
Dining area was unbearably hot. It is winter but the airconditioner was set to something ridiculous. Staff turned it off at our request however. Food was quick to arrive but plates were not cleared and I ended up doing it for our table. Not quite right in my opinion. Food was great but service could be better.
