As most reviewers have noted, this is a noisy, cheap and cheerful place great for good casual dining. Thought the food was not as good as it has been in the past - the massaman beef curry has no flavour, the soft shell crab dish was overrun with spring onions and the pad thai was a bit too chewy. The sizzling seafood was excellent. Service was attentive and efficient. $30 each including tip (not including drinks).

Went there with a party of 10. Skipped the banquet meal and pretty much ordered dishes from the chef's special. Fantastic quality and great variety. Still got out of there with less than $30 a head, so great value as well as great taste.

I am a big Thai fan, and have regularly eaten at Doytao, but I will no longer. My experience there today left me very disappointed. A mistake was made with my order and I was pretty much told that it was my fault. The lady that took our order was nice, but the lady who delivered our dishes was rude and not interested in pleasing the customer.

The Penang curry I ordered arrived with crushed nuts, yet no where on the menu did it say that the dish would come with crushed nuts, I asked for a new dish and they were very reluctant to provide this and even threatened to charge me for 2 meals. Very unimpressed.

The restaurant is always bustling, so expect a fair bit of noise whilst dining. However, we see this as a positive (energy) on most occasions, and the great food and quick service helps!

We eat in or get takeaway at least once a month, including their great lunch special, more likely twice or thrice a month. We love the stir fries, special fried rice, choo chee prawn curry, all the curries & the pad mee kao (spice rice noodles). They are one of the few Thai restaurants around that offer Lamb which my hubby loves. This is his favourite Thai restaurant & definitely in my top 3. Highly recommended, although as some others have mentioned, the dining room is very loud when you eat in as it is all hard surfaces & lots of customers.

We eat here quite a bit. Food is fresh and delicious every time. We don't go for the seafood tho. Place is quite noisy and at busy times the service can be slow, but once the food arrives, it all comes. Love the curries, Pad Thai and beef and cashew nuts. Chicken satay skewers great too. Normally get away with $15 per head, $20 if we take home.

Time I went was decent, so I went a second time in summer. There was flies everywhere! and the Pad Thai (very basic) was overloaded with sweetness and as a lover of Thai was dissapointing. Was dissapoint after that experience and could be just a bad day but nevertheless dissapointing from a place with good reviews.

I'll try to be as fair as I can, but it won't be easy as we just had dinner at this place and one of the two meals we ordered (a simple curry) took so long to arrive. The couple with a small child who arrived 10 minutes after us received all their meals before us. Water arrived early, then the juice we ordered finally arrived but only after the arrival of that very late curry. Then when we asked the other waitress, she seemed annoyed that we were asking her and replied: "hey, I don't remember writing juice down on your order, I did not even take your order!". First of all lady. We didn't say you took the order, and if you listened more carefully you would have heard that we were simply asking when it might arrive.

What can I say, we haven't been here in two years and the reason was because the flavour of the food and the overall quality was so inferior in comparison to many other good Thai restaurants in the Inner West area. We came back to give this place a second chance BUT nothing has changed, food was still crap (either too sweet or under seasoned) and (apart from one friendly waitress who attended to our order) the service was worse than before. So attention: Doy Tao Team... remember that your restaurant is one of many, many Thai Restaurants in the area / Sydney... and most of them are so much better than the food you're churning out of your kitchen. Maybe a better Chef and better staff might help? Good luck.
