The Dolphin Hotel has always been recognised for it's central location, versatile spaces and delicious and innovative food. With a major renovation completed, the Dolphin Hotel has been transformed retaining its unique style and character, but adding new lighter and open spaces in conjunction with intimate private areas and a fantastic new outdoor terrace over 2 levels.
The open plan areas are complimented by fabulous new bars on three levels, split level function spaces with traditional fittings and subtle contemporary style and a new relaxed and informal bistro with a delicious and tantalizing menu created by our resident chef, Kristy Shipp.
The Dolphin bistro focuses on fresh, seasonal produce under the direction of Chef Kristy Shipp. Kristy's experience with hotel bistro food produces some of the finest casual cooking available in Sydney.
Her philosophy is to combine first rate ingredients with simple and tasty recipes to bring us the sort of good value pub food we want to eat.

I'm really disappointed because I really like the Dolphin and have had an alright 'pub grub' meal here before. But I went for Sunday roast last week and it was truly awful. The roast of the day on the blackboard was lamb, but I think they served mutton! It was tough, severely over cooked, sinewy, fatty and leather-like. Really horrid. The mutton came with new (not roast) potatoes which were practically raw and inedible, carrots which were cooked to mush and gravy which was full of grotesque lumps. There were no redeeming features at all about the meal, it was truly disgusting.
My pregnant wife had asked the kitchen to make sure her meat was fully cooked through, so they had taken their already severely overcooked meat and panfried the bejesus out of it until it was crispy and black. She could hardly cut through it with a knife. Neither of us ate very much and went home hungry having forked out $17.50 each. We won't be eating there again.

Good basic pub food in pleasant modern surroundings, with an all day menu which is varied enough and reasonably priced.

Went here for a meeting/lunch mid week and found it really quite enjoyable, staff were friendly, food was better than pub food. Yes people it is a pub so lower your standards a little! And I quite like the open atmosphere of the place. It was pretty dead there, I guess with all the new places opening in surry hills they have some pretty stiff competition, that said I think it's a good place and worth giving a go.

The Dolphin used to be our regular Sunday lunch place for quite a large group of friends, until the standard of the food has slipped. Also, we went nearly every week for over a year, yet still only one staff member seemed to remember us, and treat us like regulars by giving a friendly smile and asking how we were. The others were polite but certainly not friendly.
There are other places we've been to just once or twice and we get that 'friendly local' feeling that is always nice for your regular Sunday lunch. It's a shame, because it's a great spot. Sadly, because of the dropped standard of the food and lack of friendly staff, we go elsewhere for our Sunday lunches now.

Went here on Saturday night to watch the rugby on the big screen and were lucky enough to grab a table near the terrace. The new grazing plates on the menu are fantastic! We ordered the soft shell crab, chorizo, haloumi, crispy squid and plenty more! Perfect sized portions, and great to nibble on with a few drinks. The bar service was great, and the sport on the big screen was even better! We will be back!

Went there on a saturday night for some birthday drinks and was pretty impressed. Wasn't overly crowded, bar lines were quick, service from the kitchen was quick and my food was so good. I mean I only had a caesar salad but it was probably one of the best I've ever had! you would be surprised at how many places can get it wrong. The prices were good value as well. I went with 5 other people and they all ordered different things and said the food was excellent. We even decided we would be coming back very soon to try some more of the menu!

Always have a great meal here, the roast is always great and the $12.50 rump is too good to pass up! Table service would be nice, and sometimes the lights are too dark, but it's always great here.

I guess my experience dining on Sundays is pretty different to that of an evening. The Wagyu beef burger is well seasoned and the roast is always a winner. Well it might be peaks and troughs between the Dolph and other local pubs, right now, they're up there when other local establishments aren't.

Went here with friends and had a really negative experience. The Steak Sandwich tasted and smelled like fish, the kitchen refused to do anything about it, or even acknowledge it. It was a shame because other than that negative it was good food. Unfortunately, that experience really let the night down.

Surprised at some of the negative comments about the food although as it's a pub the expectations have to be at that level and yes its crowded at weekends. Usually go for Sunday roast after planning to go to Bills opposite and finding it full. Never been disappointed.
