This place is a very good example of how bad sydney small bars are. The bouncers on the door make it feel if you are heading into the Hell's Angel clubhouse and the atmosphere inside isn't much better, with music so loud couldn't talk, overcrowded and felt like I was in a nightclub. Drinks are overpriced but on the bright side more decent bars have arrived in Glebe so can walk right past this place and keep heading up Glebe Point Rd.

Great cocktails and with an hour and a half happy hour every day, the value is fantastic. The tapas menu is better than average and prices mostly around $11. Can be hard to get a table, but they are accomodating if you get there early.

Attempting to patronize Different Drummer may be compared to seeking entry into Burma. Upon entering the joint, I was stopped by a hostile bouncer who demanded, in short order, to know what I was doing there (seeking to purchase an alcoholic beverage) and where I had been (a well-reviewed Vietnamese restaurant further down Glebe Point Road).

I half wondered if he was going to demand my passport or try to pat me down. After living out his policeman fantasies, he pointed out, altogether belatedly, that Different Drummer has a dress code. Fair play: I was in my casual Glebe-wear of jeans and tennis shoes.

It's their right to insist that guests glam up, just as it is their right to sodomize their patrons' ears with atrocious dance pop. Perhaps they should mention this highly salient regulation on their website. In any event I was happy to grab a beer down the road and foreswear returning.

Glebeians seeking a friendly place for a drink are advised to walk elsewhere. Aussie-Stasi doormen and pretentious dress codes do not a "different drummer" make.

Great trendy bar. Reminds of the New York style. Great ambience and service, with no complaints to the food. A must try.

Finally made it to the Different Drummer on a Tuesday night and yes, for their happy hour between 6pm- 7.30pm for 2 for 1 cocktails. We arrived at 6pm so there was hardly anyone at the bar. In anticipation of it getting crowded, we ordered 4 cocktails (therefore 8 to be made) and settled down at the window. The cocktails we ordered we delish- Choctail, Moscow Mule x 2 & Frapple. We also ordered 2 x tapas dishes- crumbed camembert and chicken skewers. For $11 I would've liked to have seen more effort put into the tapas and a bit more to the serving. Otherwise, it was a great pre- dinner stop off. The 2 bar staff were friendly and looked good at preparing the cocktails. By the time we left, the place had filled up.

Been here a couple of times for drinks on friday/saturday nights, the ambience is perfect and the drinks are good (prices are average - neither cheap nor expensive). The DJ is one of the best imo!

Hip little bar with great cocktails and tapas. Bit on the pricey side but cocktails are 2 for 1 between 6 pm and 7.30 pm, the tapas isn't the best I've had but it's not bad, pub-style fare.

Only complaint would be that in a big group, the $45 banquet was a bit on the stingy side and a couple of the dishes didn't have enough portions 'per head', but still a good night out.

Fantastic bar - definitely a favourite. The tapas are so underrated and absolutely delicious. The duck wontons are a must try, and their interesting take on nachos is a winner. The cocktails are authentic but innovative. Highly recommended.

Have been there a number of times *mostly for the 2 for cocktails* For a bar the food was not bad at all. As some others have said, some of it is great and some of it is meh! The cocktails though are great and the venue itself has a really nice feel about it. Definitely a place I will continue to go to again and again.
