Went there today for their lunch offer: Rump for 12. Asked for well done and it was dark black on one side and quite black on the other! Found a stone that first looked like an almond in the salad, luckily I didn't bite on it. Took the plate to the kitchen, they just looked surprised, no apology, no offer. I stood there half a min more expecting an reaction. Nothing happened. I left.

Of course, 12$ is a pretty good deal but it should not mean that the food or service is such a shame! No reason to return.

Great pub shame about the food. Ate here yesterday and whilst the small plates were okay for frozen food, the pizzas are tasteless. Far better food options in Balmain!

This is a good place to grab a drink and bite after work or tennis during the week. The food is usually good value as well, however, if it is busy, you may have to wait a bit for your steak. It's not exceptional, however, a good starting point for a cheap feed.

1st time visit on the weekend. I have been to the Exchange across the road a few times but never popped into Dick's hotel. Decided to go there after finding out the Pub with No Name in Balmain East was closed for refurb. Went To Dick's Hotel after reading a strong review in the SMH Pub Guide.

The pub looks pretty cool with a beer garden which would be perfect on a warm sunny day. Plenty of tables inside and out and strong selection of tap beer. Sunday afternoon footy was on and a few rowdy lads cheering on their respective teams. All good with me.

As for the food, we ordered the wagyu beef and veg pie plus the lamb shoulder bruschetta. I thought the menu actually offered excellent variety especially for a pub where nachos, bangers and mash and schnitzel can quite often be the norm. The food was enjoyable but certainly no wow factor in terms of flavour. At approx $20 a pop I have paid more for worse, that's for sure.

Recently went again with kids and another family and was not as good as I remembered. The setup is good for families and it is a beer garden that you can comfortably eat outside in during winter but the food is ordinary, not a great selection and it's relatively expensive. Prefer other pubs around inner west with much more variety and quality food. Perhaps, need to try weeknight as Saturday night was just so so.

Always a great place to go when the budget is a bit tight. Was nice again tonight, the burgers and steak are great and it's a really nice place to take the kids (obviously early in the evening) the only problem is that the smokers always seem to be out in force and sitting them right next to the dome just means the smoke blows straight into where every one is eating, this is something I notice much more now that I have a child, without the smoke it'd be so much better but you struggle with that at most places with an outside eating area.

The atmosphere was very relaxing and the staff were friendly and quick to attend. The food was awesome and it was very well priced. It was a busy night when we were there and we still got our food quickly. Not in my local area, but I will make a trip out there whenever the wife lets me go out. The outside Dome area rocks.

The $10 steaks are fantastic and it's all 'round great pub fare. One of the only beer gardens in Balmain.

Best place in Sydney for $10 steaks! Best to sit outside in the beer garden, inside is a bit too "pub-like" for my tastes. Expect to wait a bit Monday-Thursday when the steak special is on.
