Ever since Caleb left, this place has not been the same. Caleb was a very good cook (with a personable touch) who often, in my view, left egg all over the proverbial face of the Malasian place around the corner. Where are you Caleb? Come back....
I'm a bit of a Laksa tragic and I'm constantly on a quest for the perfect Laksa. I've had Laksa everywhere from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur and from Brisbane to Calcutta. So, it was with high expectations that I ventured to Parramatta and DeLaksa. Sad to say, I was disappointed with the Laksa which frankly was little more than an insipid bowl of tasteless goo. The service was outstanding and Mary the owner was attentive and friendly. In the meantime... the search continues.
Went for lunch this afternoon. We ordered Singapore style fried hokkien mee and chicken prawn laska. The food were not as good as expected. The hokkien mee was not too bad except that it was too salty and the chilli did not goes well with it. Great disappointment for the laska. It wasn't authentic at all. It was too oily. On the other hand, the service was great. A very friendly Malaysian boss which made us feel like home. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.
Decent value food here in Parra. Went there on some public holiday a few weeks back so we were the only people there so obviously great service. I can't really understand people who go to a restaurant at the busiest time on the busiest night of a week then complain the service wasn't perfect. I always try to go to restaurants on what seems to be the quietest time on the quietest day of their week so can get the service I expect. And it always works. The food was great, slightly more expensive than I had expected but it was pretty good so I didn't mind. No frills decor but who cares, I am here for the food! I had a curry and was not disappointed. I can imagine this place being packed for weekday lunches with all the suits around so try to go another time if you can! Recommended.
I rate it at 7.5/10. Not the best around, but satisfying !
This tiny resto is packed with really good food & fantastic service. The owner & staff make you feel at home. I have been recommending it to everybody!
I wondered if the chef or owner was originally from Temasek just around the corner. The service is personable and modest. The smell of belacan and coconut milk hits you when you walk into this humble establishment. The laksa is a must try. Give the curry puffs a miss as they look like they have gone through the drycleaners and emerged 100times smaller. Ah, but the laksa. My sister thought the nasi lemak was a tad too bland...but make up your mind on this. What a gem. I am so UNIMPRESSED with Temasek that I am glad that there is competition in the vicinity worth mentioning.
