Wow. Only one review. It's been at least a year since I was here, but it was one of the best nights I'd had in ages, and my experience was a hell of a lot better than 2.3/10. I won't argue if it's sufficiently cool to justify the hype or not but simply, Sydney needs more places like this.
For example, Thursday nights (from memory, or was it Tuesday, I always get those two mixed up) they had a regular session with the Barnes clan, and it was like joining Jimmy, Mama, the kids and their friends as they sat on the couch at their place and played an acoustic jam. Mahalia was awesome, and with Jenny Morris and Diesel as part of the extended band, it was like hanging with one of Australia's most musically talented family while being served great drinks from the bar.
People can argue about what's cool from year to year or week to week, but the guys at Ruby Rabbit and De Nom know how to throw a great party. Just go - ring beforehand, get on the list, and enjoy it.
Beautiful place but that's about where the praise finishes. The drinks are overpriced, the clientele are cheesy wannabe's and the service is fake! Money buys you happiness eh? I think not!
