My extended family (many of us!) have now eaten here several times and we're really impressed with the food and the service in particular. Great value, wonderful experience...
From your reviews, I decided to go to the restaurant, heard from an old friend that the current owners are the same as the original thai restaurant on the same site. I have so many fond memories as a ex-local with that restaurant. But, unfortunately, the food was only ordinary and not as good as before or comparable to some of the new places like Doytao for thai and some of the marrickville places for vietnamese. Might be the nice when David's mum was taking a break or I'm not as generous in rating.
We decided to go David Trees on a Friday night after reading the previous reviews and the restaurant didn't disappoint. The place was pretty much packed with lots of people just walking in. We ordered three dishes (stir fried chicken with oyster sauce, very tasty, a bit more chicken though, thai beef salad yummy) and the garlic chilli fish was divine. On the whole a very nice meal (with lots of fresh vegetables) and the service friendly and efficient. A great place for families. Cannot wait till I go back.
This restaurant has become my regular weekend feast prior to hitting the city nightlife! The salads are fresh and flavoursome, Bok Bok Chicken, Beef, Soft Shell Crab, not sure which one's my favourite but they're all delicious. I'm a huge fan of the starters as well, there's great variety from curry puffs to fresh springs rolls, I can't get enough!! Everytime we get our bill we almost feel guilty for paying so little money for what was (and always is) a satisfying meal.
I had my friend's Hen's night here not long ago. It was a fantastic night and all the ladies really enjoyed the food and service. We particularly like the starters, curry puffs are so delicious, so too are the fresh spring rolls : 9. I have been going there again everyweek since the hen's night!
This restaurant is quite a find. The best Tom Yum Soup, Red Curry and if you are lucky the Soft Shell Crab is to die for. Service is fantastic and the staff are warm and inviting.
Amazing food and great value! David Trees is very relaxing and quiet and you can hold a conversation without raising your voice. The staff and very friendly and go out of their way to please their customers. I love this restaurant!
Great cooking. Everything's fresh and delicious, the room is serene and relaxing, and the service is attentive. The value is amazing, it's very little to pay for a fresh, carefully cooked meal in a pleasant setting. Give it a try!
I almost don't want to share but This Thai/Viet restaurant is very very good. This place is new, refined and David tries hard to please his customers with excellent food at a great price, and attentive service to match.
All dishes are made from quality, fresh ingredients. Fat transparent Viet spring rolls, light fluffy curry puffs, squid with Mum's chilli sauce, beef salad (divine), and carefully spiced and fresh curries. Wonderful food at a truly great price.
The only criticism, the way the menu is laid out really undersells the food. It makes it look like one of those noodle joints where you choose your noodle, then choose your meat and sauce. This place offers a far more refined meal than that.
PS I'm sure that was David's Mum cooking in the kitchen.
Stumbled across this restaurant one night whilst looking for something different on Glebe Point Road. Nothing on the menu over $14 and the best (and cheapest) rice paper rolls I've ever eaten. The service is brilliant and food is served quickly. I now eat here weekly and am never disappointed.
