I have been to this place numerous times and I can't complain at all about the food. There is a great variety of food here whether you are trying to eat cheap or get a good meal. The nazi goreng and the pasta are great value meals for just $15 and the ribs are a very generous portion for $25. Even if you just want to have a coffee and a dessert to catch up with someone, the pancakes are great value and absolutely delicious. Something for everyone here, and by far the stand out Australian restaurant in Beverly Hills
My husband and I went to the cafe just last Wednesday. We waited for 45 minutes for our meals until I asked how much longer and apparantly they said the receipt to the kitchen had run out and missed our order. I was very disappointed and ready to walk out until they promised to bring it out asap.
What a mistake, we waited a further 20 minutes for the meals to come out and did not eat until 10:30pm. The staff was busy drinking with companions which is very unprofessional and told the waitress to tell us one of the meals was free. It's a shame about this because they really do serve good food.
I would have thought the waitress who took our order would have noticed that we had not received our meals yet however there seems to be no communication with the kitchen. Yes, they were busy but with 3 waitresses they should have known better. Gordon Ramsay would have had a field day!! I'm definitely not in a hurry to go back!
I used to be a regular here in the 90's and occasionally go back for sentimental reasons. Each time I have been disappointed. The food is reheated and the staff are not very friendly. The menu is too big and I think they try and do too much and it just doesn't work. What a shame.
I enjoy Mcaine's overcooked potatoes and steamed veg in the comfort of my own home, in my pjs when it costs me next to nothing. I do not like it as a side to a poorly cooked and presented overpriced $25 stake.
My friend's food was late (30 mins and we complained 3 times), we got our entrees after the main (go figure) and the service was disappointing. If you like throwing money away go eat at D to D.
First timer, the other night. Really nice bruschetta, the grain fed meat was pretty good, great array of desserts, especially the dark chocolate brulee with berries and cream. Found it a bit on the exy side but nice food, good service. Definitely go back.
A very good place if taking someone out for a meal. The relatively better food and cake selection comes with higher prices. Then again, the place just had to be good to compete with the other two major Australian restaurants in Beverly Hills.
I have eaten here a million times before, since it opened in 1995 actually. However, moved out of the area a couple of years ago and haven't been back that much since. Went with a girlfriend last night and was a bit disappointed with the food. I had the caesar salad and she had the avo/chick salad. The main issue was they were swimming in dressing. I mean, I really like dressing but this was ridiculous! And my dressing tasted like watered down mayo which ruined the salad for me. At least the garlic bread I ordered was good.
Met a friend at this cafe and we had a great time and meal together. Mind you I had both the kids with me but it was fine. On arrival the waitress was quick to provide them with crayons and paper. It was great as I was able to chat rather than chase them around. The food was lovely and the dessert list amazing, we sampled and shared a couple as they were too irresistable.
I am a local in the area and my boyfriend and I come here all the time. Our whole family are regulars and make an appearance at least once a week! D to D burger is delicious! Nachos are also great! Good value for money and good service. Not sure what all the fuss is about, we always get good service and never have to wait for entrees and mains! Good local cafe for a casual meal!
