This is one of the newer restaurants in the Crows Nest area situated just off Willoughby Rd in what used to be known as Piars Indian Restaurant. The Indian theme continues but the food, service and atmosphere has been elevated to a higher level with new owner / chef Ravi Gandhi. He is one of India's top 20 master chefs and just one taste of his specialty dish Murg Peshwari will send your tastebuds into instant understanding as to why. Ravi Gandhi is a third generation restaurateur / chef who brings to Sydney the tradition of Punjabi North Indian cuisine that is in his genes as well as extensive experience in the discerning London market.
Cumin serves up authentic North Indian Cuisine in a stylish and relaxed atmosphere. Your opinion of Indian food will never be the same after experiencing a wonderful lunch or dinner here and it is great value.

I am very disappointed with this place. I love Indian food but this was bland and overpriced. I have no idea why it got such good reviews.

Can't tell the difference from when this was Piar. The food is quite good as far as Australian Indian food goes, but I'm not sure I could have told what each dish was if the waiter hadn't told us. The staffs were good and as it was full so clearly it's popular.

The prawn dish (not on menu) is the best!

My partner and I dined here a few weekends ago on a Saturday night. The ambience was good, though come 8 o'clock, we were almost shouting across the table at each other. And, as others have also commented, our water glasses were never empty which is a good sign of good service! We enjoyed Raavi's, but don't think that the dishes were anything particularly special.

I went to Raavi's last night for dinner with my girlfriend and it certainly won't be the last time. We decided we wanted to try something new and now that we have, I don't think we'll go anywhere else. The food was just beautiful, with a menu that was extremely helpful in deciding what to select - with chef's reccomendations and giving a head up on the hot dishes. The service was top notch, with our glasses of wine and water never going empty - the only problem being that having dinner at 6pm there weren't too many other diners and the waiter was always looking over our shoulders to see if we needed assistance, which felt a little intrusive at times.
We went all out on food and still have enough for another visit which I don't think is too far off. You've got to try this place.

Been around everywhere, and went back to Raavi`s for a great meal, swear not to try another Indian restaurant again. The best part is that I must have gone there after 3 months or so but was greeted by my first name by Ravi himself where do you get such personalised service and the food was consistent and great value. GOOD ON YOU RAVI.

We went there last week. We had to wait an hour for our food and that also when our order got lost the first time. We had a bad experience and will never go back. We used to go there often before we moved.

I came to Raavi's as part of a group of nine friends about a week ago for a farewell. The food was delicious and service extremely professional. The blend of spices in each dish was subtle and made each dish a winner in its own right. Little things like water being served without asking for it and staff refilling glasses without prompting were appreciated. The signature chicken dish was the clear winner and every bit of chicken and remnant of sauce was scraped from the bowl. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for any occasion. However the benefit of dining in a large group was being able to sample a number of dishes.
