This is one of the newer restaurants in the Crows Nest area situated just off Willoughby Rd in what used to be known as Piars Indian Restaurant. The Indian theme continues but the food, service and atmosphere has been elevated to a higher level with new owner / chef Ravi Gandhi. He is one of India's top 20 master chefs and just one taste of his specialty dish Murg Peshwari will send your tastebuds into instant understanding as to why. Ravi Gandhi is a third generation restaurateur / chef who brings to Sydney the tradition of Punjabi North Indian cuisine that is in his genes as well as extensive experience in the discerning London market.
Cumin serves up authentic North Indian Cuisine in a stylish and relaxed atmosphere. Your opinion of Indian food will never be the same after experiencing a wonderful lunch or dinner here and it is great value.

The food was OK, but not outstanding. The service was a little poor - our waiter seemed distracted.

A first class Indian restaurant. Easily matches come of the better Indian restaurants in London. The food was exceptional, the service efficient and knowledgeable and the ambiance very good. Well worth a visit.

Dined here for the first time a couple of nights ago. Lovely ambience to the place and very welcoming staff. The food was absolutely delicious - we especially enjoyed the pork palak. The only letdown was the slowness of the service - the restaurant was only half full on a Tuesday night (before Anzac day) and we waited a long time for our entrees and then our mains.
I wonder how long we would have to wait if the restaurant were full! However, this may be just a teething issue with a new restaurant. Would definitely come back.

We had take-away only so can't comment on the table service or ambience as much but we did enjoy the food. The butter chicken was as good as I've had recently and my partner had two small servings of mixed vegis and daal makhani which were both good. It was about $30 all up with rice and naan, and we didn't finish it in one sitting, so value was good.

After reading the user reviews and reading through the menu and Owner/Chef's background, I decided to have my birthday / going away party here. There was 11 of us. After reading through the extensive menu, we were all pretty perplexed at what to order. Not to worry though, Raavi suggested we do the banquet (something which most of us all cringe at). But, this was no ordinary banquet a, b, c. Raavi asked us what our preferences were (hot, spicy, creamy, meats etc) and he devised a set of curries which included the signature Murg Peshwari (sublime people, sublime!). People this place is fantastic. Whether you are a curry aficionado, or just starting out, I reckon you could not choose a better place on the north shore. How many times have you had the Head Chef / Owner tell you that he has changed the pork curry to a lamb curry simply because he was not happy with the way it turned out! This is the level of quality you can expect.
The desserts were great too - try the fig ice-cream. My friends paid for my spouse and I, and they were up for $45 each. Fantastic value! For all of you who are tired of eating Vindaloo, Madra, Butter Chicken etc, give Raavi's a go. You will not be disappointed. I just hope this place is still around when I get back in a couple of years! Thanks Raavi and team for an awesome night. You have something special working. Cheers. P.s. the $60 special offer is great. The house wines aptly named Cumin, are pretty good.

Not particularly interested in Indian food because of bad experiences in the past but my boyfriend said that Cumin's will change all that - it's his favourite Indian restaurant in Sydney. And he was right! The curries just melt in your mouth, their amazing! And the naans are terrific! Service is friendly and ambience is cosy & modern! Definitely will come back to Cumin's, it was worth the drive!

This is without doubt the best Indian food I've come across in 7 years of living in Sydney. Being from England originally I have high expectations of Indian food and have not found an Indian restaurant that even comes close to those found in Birmingham, London or even provincial England.
Raavi's is the exception. The restaurant is very warm and welcoming, Raavi and his staff are very friendly, and they even cooked a Chicken Balti for me, which wasn't on the menu.
My girlfriend had the Butter Chicken, which I normally think is heresy, but it was delicious. The naan is fresh and light, not overly greasy like in some Indian places.
I have found my curry house at last!

It was actually really good! The lamb korma was nice, but average. The butter chicken was a real standout! Fantastic flavour. I would go back for sure.

The food was fantastic. This is the first time we went to an Indian Restaurant in Australia and the quality of food didn't disappoint us. However, the service was a bit hit and miss. We were asked if we want any poppadums and we said no. They came regardless and we were charged for them. The second beer order never came. It is not the cheapest place to get a curry (especially when you compare to Brick Lane in London) but the quality is high. Will definitely go back again and hopefully the service will improve.

Went there on a friday night, thank god we had a booking, the place was packed and there were people waiting. The place was pleasant and service was pretty good. But the food was absolutely fantastic, it did take a while for the food to come but I don't blame them as it was a really busy night. We will go back .
