I've been to many yum cha places but I found this place to be the most expensive!! Spent over $50 between me and my mum, who is a vegetarian and hardly ate anything!! This place also charges tea money!! It's the only yum cha place in the area but I would go to other places first before here.

I've also had food from their take away section, Not good! Tastes like any other shopping centre outlet but worse the food was barely warm!! For yum cha I would give the food 7, for the take away food, 3 so a average score of 5 is given.

I went there the other night and really enjoyed it, especially after leaving the place next door where we received no service at all (waited twenty minutes with a menu, none asked for drink order even, let alone food even though the place was not busy and wait staff were cleaning and ignoring us!). This place was a welcome change with attentive staff who were fantastic.

We didn't order a lot as my friend had eaten before coming here for dinner (ate entrees while I ate a main) but this by no way diminished service. My satay vegetables with bean curd dish was good, can't complain, not the best but certainly by no means the worst I've had, had rice left at the table which was great, could have as much as wanted and overall just a really good dining experience. Have to go again to try more dishes.

Yum Cha in Blacktown...Crystal Palace has the monopoly in Westpoint Blacktown since the opening of the larger and bigger shopping experience in Westpoint Blacktown. My parents went there many times and invited me along because Yum Cha is better with more diners...in order to try more dishes.

We arrived in the afternoon (after 1 pm) on Saturday and promptly given 2 choices of table...we took the one further away from the extrance. Hot tea was served upon ordering the 1st dish off the food trolley...we ordered around 6 to 7 dishes...the usual dim sums, congee and some savouries.

Hmm...after reading most of the reviews posted before me...don't expect the 5-Star quality dim sums...or services...it is filling for yum cha on the go as most servings are pretty big as it is make up in prices. My parents would not be on the same page on their previous dinner at Crystal Palace...Anyway...this is my review...as monopoly in Blacktown...the service could be better. The bill came to $38.30 for three of us...just for the dishes we ordered and hot tea.

Been to Crystal since it opened, used to go to dinner alot especially for special occasions like birthdays, but nowadays mainly go for yum cha.

Food always seems to be decently fresh, especially the seafood as much of it is kept alive in water tanks. I always order peking/beijing duck too as it is one of my favourite dishes, however I enjoy wrapping my own duck and saucing it to my preferences, when they cut the duck and wrap it for it, it just doesn't taste as good when not customised to my tastes.

Dinner is decent but average.

Yum Cha is decent on weekdays, but much much better on the weekend where there are way more customers. Arriving early is always a good idea, firstly to get a table, secondly so you can see what's been cooked fresh and placed on the carts and what's actually been carted around for ages.

Tips:

1) The people carrying around trays with several plates of food on them.. generally have been walking around for a while and the food is more often than not gone cold
2) The food from the cart/trolley ladies is usually kept nice and hot, especially the steamed dumplings
3) Always ask if the fried foods like fried squid tentacles are freshly fried, if not, they are probably cold and not so tasty

Me and my family are regulars to Crystal and a few of the managers and one of the greeting ladies know us well. The guy called Michael always signs our yum cha slip for "min cha" meaning free tea - However, the sneaky/nasty woman who mans the cash register always manages to ignore the signature and charges tea money.

One time, I went with my mother and 2 best friends to eat yum cha at Crystal and already paid the bill, once again the ticket was signed for "min cha" yet we were charged for tea once again. Me and my friends decided to sit and chat for a bit before we left while my mum went shopping.

Feeling like dessert, we ordered a mango pancake, then later when I went to pay, that crazy cashier woman strikes again and puts tea for 3 people on the bill, that was just sad. Luckily one of the waitresses spoke up for me and said they have already paid a large bill and this was just an extra add on. I still left $5 tip on the pancake bill to the waitress who spoke up, hope the cashier woman sees none of it.

Overall, the service is very good if you happen to run into the nice people who remember you, but it is shocking from those who don't know who you are. The food, especially the seafood varieties are always fresh and deliciously cooked. The restaurant is very clean, but the air con can be a bit too cold sometimes. The prices are quite decent, and I am not sure but some dishes have actually been lowered in price e.g. the peking duck, much to my satisfaction.

Been here a few times for both yum cha and dinner. It is not as good as the dixon st or cabra yum cha's but it is still not bad. The prices are reasonable to high as you would expect for the only yum cha around. I am sure this will change as the taste for yum cha grows in the area.

The biggest downfall of the restaurant is the service, where it depends on who you get as as to what you recieve. The main female waiter at the door is only interested in getting you to sit down in a chair and then she leaves you to fend for yourself. This is fine if you are familiar with shouting and demanding in the Asian way, but as a non Asian, it is sometimes frustrating while you sit there waiting while noisy others receive instant service.

The food is rather good and I thoroughly recommend the deep fried flounder.

Lunch time here is always busy and has a great bustling vibe about it. Don't go there expecting friendly service and a smile though...

There is great variety in their yum cha dishes however most meals came out warm-cold. Make sure you try the steamed scallops that they serve individually in a Chinese spoon with an awesome soy type sauce.

More expensive than other yum cha venues.

I too am glad to have a local Yum Cha and although I have been here quite a few times I am still not impressed with the service. That may be because I am not Chinese? I find it hard to flag down a waiter for drinks or ordered dishes. Often the order is forgotten all together?

Drinks are overpriced ( as they usually are at most Yum Cha's) but to charge for Green Tea & $12.50 for a jug of lemonade? Come on! The food is good but the overcooked Gai Larn is a let down. Also the Roast Duck is too $$$ instead buy a great one over the railway line at the Asian butchers for only about $17.

Good food, and relatively local for us. Am chinese background and had the Tofu/Eggwhite dish (Hai Tong tofu) and Black Pepper Beef. Also had mixed entree. Food was plentiful and good. We had enough to pack two lunches as well. Also got free prawn crackers (starter), soup and oranges and dessert.

We would always go to Cabramatta for Yum Cha, but ever since we tried this place, we haven't turned back. All food for Yum Cha is yummy & was not disappointed. Book for large groups on a sunday lunch necessary !
