Overview
Occupying the southern end of the Overseas Passenger Terminal on Level two, Cruise Restaurant enjoys breathtaking views of Circular Quay and The Sydney Opera House, as well as the commanding skyline of the lower CBD. To compliment its prestige positioning, an interior scheme of elegant furnishings has been employed, maximising the outlook and providing surrounds that are the essence of contemporary comfort and modern sophistication.
The food philosophy is all about fresh, seasonal produce. Skillfully prepared to accentuate the natural flavours and work in harmony with the rest of the menu.
A split-level floor allows diners to enjoy this premier outlook from every table, which includes both freestanding, and banquette configurations. Cruise Restaurant has a maximum capacity of 60 diners, an ideal figure, which strikes just the right balance for contemporary dining with an appropriate level of intimacy. As an extension of the bar below, the colour palette of brilliant white, black and pale grey is carried throughout, while a splash of red adds to the warmth and intimacy. Glimpses of the kitchen provide an appealing additional buzz.
We had the best evening at Cruise last night to celebrate my son's 21st birthday.
The waiter was attentive, the food superb and the table we requested available.
It is really hard to fault the wonderful view as the sun set on the Harbour. However there are other restaurants on that strip that I have been to that are much more expensive and have offered really lousy service and attitude. So well done Cruise, can't wait to return!
We went to Cruise on Wednesday night for dinner to celebrate my husbands new job, and are already planning on when we can go back.
The food was exceptional, praise to the chefs. We shared the pumpkin tortellini as the entree it was to die for. For the mains we ordered the rabbit gnocci, rib eye steak, barramundi and the lamb moussaka all of which I would highly recommend to anyone. The coffee brulee and rhubarb crumble for dessert was the perfect way to finish!
The waitstaff were warm, friendly, helpful and very attentive. And the beautiful view over Circular Quay is something to be seen. I cannot fault this restaurant, it was just the all round prefect dining experience, we had such a lovely evening.
Thank you to Cruise for making this a special night for us, you'll be seeing us again soon.
Two of us had lunch on a Friday. The restaurant was not busy, which I found surprising. The service was good. We were not rushed, but nor were we ignored. The view is, of course, wonderful, but that is what you are paying for. The food was acceptable, but seemed expensive for what we actually received.
We arrived at 6.30pm on a Thursday evening. Restaurant was really quiet, so you would think they would be able to provide decent service. The 3 staff members on the floor were huddled at the bar, and only came over the serve us when we caught their attention which seemed to be very difficult - they would walk past and avoid all eye contact!
We ordered a salmon dish, which I must say was absolutely divine. Best salmon I have ever had! It was cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside, but still pink on the inside. So thank you to the wonderful chefs for not making the night a complete disaster!
Visited here for the Sydney Festival Feasts offer and was pleasantly suprised. Our waitress was well informed and friendly, and enriched our experience. The Blue eye cod was cooked perfectly, and served on a bed of squshed cherry tomato combined with a strong but lovely balsamic vinegar and lemon flavour. The fish was cooked enough to flake but was still moist. The micro salad is just enough, bean sprouts and coriander, yum!
The meal is served with a choice of wine which compliment the meal well and the hot bread with assorted spread made for an extremely good value meal. I will return and sample more of the fantastic food and service cruise offers.
Celebrated my partner's 40th birthday hoping for a romantic settng. They didn't tell us that there was going to be a party of 20 celebrating birthday as well. As it turned out, it wasn't that bad. Service was absolutely great. They tried 110% to please my birthday boy. Food was also great. Hatss off, or is it on?
Just had the worst experience here. Went for lunch on a Friday. The restaurant was not busy. The waiter took our order at 1.20pm. After many enquiries as to how long our food was going to be and many assurances it was only another five minutes, it finally arrived at 2.50pm. In the end the food was complimentary but they charged us for drinks. The waiter apologised because he forgot to put the order in. There are better places in Sydney to go.
I love it! Came here for my birthday and it was a great night, great views and great atmoshpere. Bit of a wait at the bar but everytime I was the bar, the staff were so friendly towards me. I definitely recommend for a night out!
We dined here on Saturday night, the restuarant wasn't too busy. The view of the opera house was fantastic and although you could hear the music from the bar downstairs it wasn't distracting. The food was great and the service would have been exception but for the fact that there were a touch on the over attentive side. We had our regular waiter who was fantastic but often 'random' staff would interrupt and ask how the meal was going etc., this became slightly annoying after a while.
After hearing the chefs made their own butter, I had to come. Yes they do make their own butter but the brasserie bread rolls they order in are horrible. Went here last night for dinner and had steamed gruyere pudding on stale crisps, tapenade made with rancid olives and celery? remoulade (the only nice thing on the dish). My partner had garavad lax (their spelling) of ocean trout which was marginally better. For main, we had the signature dish of snapper which was pleasant except for the cold lobster and tempura prawns which do not suit the dish. The other main was a special which was over cooked and lacking seasoning. We decided to skip dessert and have it at Quay. Service was up and down. Waiters had little knowledge of food or wine. I can highly recommend the 2000 penfolds 00a chardonnay from tumbarumba (out of this world) wine and ambience saved the night from disaster. It's hard to justify prices like this with poor food and service even if you do have a great view.
