Overview
Situated in Church St, Parramatta - fast becoming one of the busiest eat streets in town - Criniti's, a hotspot for hunger is serving some winning Italian hot cooked flavours.
Mamma Mia! Tuck into the taste of Calabria with pasta calabrese cooked in Napoletana sauce, olives, sausages, garlic and chilli or traditional rice dumplings brescioli, stuffed in mozzarella cheese served in Napoletana sauce.
Criniti's wood fire pizza are as fresh as the day itself, the Pizza Azzuri with its prosciotto, bocconcini, ricotta cheese, artichokes, and sundried tomatoes is by far the favourite. Criniti's has an extensive and tasty menu with steaks, seafood, pasta and pizza to choose from.
Warning: Ready for a rude experience! Rudest service in Parramatta. Waitstaff get over your attitudes. Portions huge but not worth eating. If you think thats value-knock yourself out. Save your money spend it elsewhere.
Went there at 8 pm Wednesday night. It was a full house and a line with many people just wanting a seat for 2 people. I was served by the assistant manager in the queue, I told her we were after a table of 7 and lucky a table just had been cleared (Book ahead:).
This is a busy restaurant, plenty of wait staff and are always on their toes so if you're lucky service should be excellent. Service was good through out the night as it wasn't too in your face and just right for us. Plenty of smiles. Food was Ok. Breads are fantastic we tried the one with the cherry tomatoes/avocado/salmon, very nice. I ordered the Al Pachino Pasta (entree size). It was huge, Pasta was nice and hot but Italian homemade sausages were rock hard, the one huge meatball in the middle was nice. Beware pastas/Risottos are very large servings.
Desserts are amazing, Panna cotta was fresh (it was wobbling as it was being brought to us, Creme brulee, nice and creamy with perfectly scorched on the top, sticky date, warm with real quality dates (as stated on menu), but tiramisu was 70% cream 30% sponge not much flavour soaked in the sponge. Aprox $15 each presentation-good
Ambience is perfect for Bdays and gatherings, not very romantic or quiet. Brightly lit and paintings to suit. Seating is rather squashy.
Value - Prices reflect servings size rather than quality. Menu is very big. Over 30 different pizzas to choose from and 10 plus types of chicken, 10 plus more pastas, 8 plus more steaks, 10 or more seafood, 8 or more sides. You really need time to pick something.
On a Saturday night, there is a line to you have to wait in, I got there 7pm and waited one hour. The people in front of me left!! We even had to ask for our own menus!! While waiting, the hostess said I was behind these other ladies behind me, UUUMMMMM if I'm ahead of them, how did the conclusion of that come up? That makes no sense; did she want me to wait longer than 1 hour?
The iced strawberry was nothing special; the nanno's bread was nice and big. The pasta was huge I couldn't finish it, it was that big!! But you get what you pay for, a little pricey but like I said portions are big.
Update: I’ve tried the pizza and it was ok, but for something that’s around $25, I ate it myself!! That’s not good value and it was a bit too salty. Even though the ratings don’t show everything, I do recommended the food (not the pizza though) but when its busy, you'll have to wait.
We went there attracted bye the mass of people already inside the place and we are very disappointed by the service and the poor quality of the food, we will never return.
I have dined here several times (not byu choice) and to be honest their pasta's are horrible as they are too large and the sauce is simply filled with oil, not very healthy. The service is shocking. I once asked for no oil in my tomato based pasta and ended up with a cream based pasta. I returned it and was given a pasta in 2 minutes which was tomato based and filled with oil. When I asked for it to be returned I was told that I had to accept as the sauce is prepared before hand.
On top of this, they could not cut some tomotoes or open a stupid can to make a small batch? This place is nothing but a scene. Great ambience but everything else is a joke.
I went here not long ago and the service absolutely shocking. Like, when I tried to ask several staff members for a fork, they completely ignored me! I eventually had to got to the counter and grab it myself. The food was really terrible too and I couldn't believe that they could make such a simple dish such as lasagne taste so terrible! We left the restaurant really early, feeling really disappointed by the food and service. If you want to have a nice good dinner, don't come to this restaurant.
It's hard not to give this place a bad review when the service is so appalling! Large servings of highly priced, mediocre food do not make up for staff completely ruining an entire evening. The other places on Church Street may look less popular initially however I can assure you will find better service, food and value at any of the vast options along the strip. Definitely give this place a miss.
I went for a 'work do', early week night so no need to book. Walk down Church Street, not a soul in sight: restaurants deserted (City Extra always is deserted, and for good reason, but the others, what's your excuse??) Criniti’s, well they're bouncing off the rafters, the place is packed, and a queue at the door!!
Wait for 10 minutes to get an outside table for six, so far so good. Wait another 10 to get the attention of a staff member so that we can get some wine glasses for our BYO, wait another 10 to get another staffer over with the electronic contraption to order our glasses, wait another 10 to get the actual glasses. Never got a wine bucket, they didn't ask, nor did they care. Everyone's a bit distracted, a bit detached, real 'cool', got little head pieces on, tight t-shirts, checking out the cars - the chicks, the boyz...Starting to see where this is heading?
Ordered garlic pizza bread entrees to share, were delivered pitta bread with sundried tomato dip, along with a base crust topped with halved cherry tomatoes. Not what was ordered, or expected. As for the mains, one of our party ordered 'vitello pizzaolo' of the main dish menu. This was lost in the translation, and he ended up with a mozzarella pizza topped with a few lousy slices of veal, and for $24.90. The other meals were delivered as ordered, the general consensus being that they were doing basic, standard dishes well, but charging over the odds for the privilege. Not exactly sure what makes this place so popular.
