Moving from Pyrmont to Erskineville 2 years ago, we really miss our weekend breakfast at this great little cafe. If they still do it, the scrambled eggs with goats cheese is heavenly. The coffee is pretty good, though slightly larger cups would be better value.
I can't say enough about this fantastic cafe. The sign of a GREAT establishment is one that openly accepts positive/constructive feedback from it's clientèle and turns it into a more enjoyable dining experience everytime. As popular as this cafe is, the staff there always manage to give that special 'personal touch' which keeps happy diners and happy tummys coming back again and again. The works breakfast here is really a WORKS breakfast unlike some other pyrmont cafes that advertise this. Goes down perfectly with the berry and banana frape too. C-man.
Having moved to Pyrmont for a 1 month and always walk past Concrete on the way to work and back, its always filled with diners. So thought we'd give it a go one sunday for brunch. The waiters were efficient. Ordered the "Works breakfast" which included everything, bacon, sausage, turkish toast with egg, tomato, hash brown with baby spinach. Very filling and generous size, the price is a tad pricey, definitely try the "Italian Fried eggs". It was a great meal and definitely will go back again.
Although I used to think Concrete's menu consisted of nothing more than a collection of boring omelettes, I was pleasantly surprised on a recent return visit. The wait staff are professional and efficient. I really enjoyed my corncakes with crispy bacon. Finally a cafe that doesn't burn bacon to bits (maybe I've been eating in the food and culture void of Crow's Nest too long.) It's probably between Concrete and Cafe XXII for the weekend pick of the cafes in Pyrmont now.
This is my regular weekend breakkie spot. Always has a great vibe and is an enjoyable place to have a lazy meal year round. Staff are always attentive and friendly. The menu isn't spectacular, but the food is always good and consistent.
Slightly pricey, but the ambience more than makes up for it. My only gripe - I'm a regular customer who always tips generously, the odd complimentary top up coffee on the house would be a small but appreciated gesture. That aside, all in all this is a great gem of a cafe I have referred onto friends many times.
I'm a regular and have been for well over 2 years now. Great food and service. The prices aren't the cheapest, but it's I feel you get good sized servings.
Went to this place for breakfast the other day and really enjoyed it, the staff were really friendly and the food was superb. It's a really nice place to just sit back and relax, talk over a coffee. With regards to value for money, it is a bit on the expensive side but I suppose it is inner city.
As a visitor to Sydney from the UK I wanted to try and find a decent neighbourhood cafe for a decent breakfast and I found Concrete to be excellent. Quite whining about high prices..it's cheap compared with the UK and good value compared with anything I had in Oz during my stay. The full breakfast is great value at $11 - perfectly poached eggs, wondeful sourdough bread and a creamy cappucino accompaniment made a great start to a cold a grey day. The waitress was so hospitable and friendly. I'll definitely be back (although 10500 miles is a long way).
