Overview
This place is extraordinary. It has been 5 years in the making and features beautiful handcrafted native Australian wood tables. Every space is unique.
The whole site is a work of art and there is nothing else like it in the Blue Mountains. Every corner has some special feature or delight. A small flower painting here, a bird here, a frog. Our favourite is the birds sitting on the rafters.
The food is good yet inexpensive, and the staff exceptionally friendly and accommodating. It has taken Katoomba by storm and is now the town's favourite cafe though it has only been open for one month (as at 23 March 2008). It is a must visit for anyone coming to the mountains.
Finding the cafe was a chance encounter, but the experience brightened up our whole Blue Mountains experience. The inside was warm and cozy with the fireplace and unique wooden interior designs. The ambience was relaxed and intimate with soft music in the background and attentive and approachable staff. Although the cafe was packed, once the orders were put through the food arrived soon after. Deli Rose is a must try and still in our heads after we've arrived back in Sydney!
Unique ambience, great design, exceptional service. Food is mostly organic and fresh, especially the baked goodies. Yerba mate is also available here so check it out. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Katoomba. This place is worth visiting again and again.
The cafe interior is designed like a tree-house with different sized private little spaces upstairs and down. It's beautifully crafted from recycled materials that lend to it's warm, cosy atmosphere. The meals are generous and very tasty. We've been regular visitors and often take friends to share the experience with us.
This is a gorgeous little place. It's run by a religious group but don't let that put you off! There's no preaching, no converting, no nothing, just really great coffee and food. The girls dress in Amish style clothing and have beautiful long plaited hair, the guys like their facial hair.
It's decorated like a little Amish house or barn I guess, it's sweet, and though they've minimised their seating by the layout, it's worth it. I loved it. The food was such great value! I couldn't believe it. Compared to food where I live, this was cheaper than cooking at home! And best of all, they seemed to have gluten free desserts as standard. For once I wasn't stuck for choice. It's such good home cooked food at such low prices, I had to do a double take.
This is a great little cafe which has livened up a pretty dead corner of Katoomba and it's open later for coffee in the evenings.
The first thing that you notice when you walk in, is just how bloody gorgeous the ambience is in here. When you’re seated, and I suggest the little nook upstairs if you’re prepared to wait for a table, it’s lovely to gaze down and around and really appreciate the work gone into this place. There are so many special little touches therefore ambience get’s a 10 from me.
The food here is uncomplicated and simple home style fare. The menu while limited is perfect comfort food. Very generous portions and you will probably do a double-take at the prices. Coffee is rich and deep, just lovely. Try the blueberry crumble slice (No charge to add cream and ice-cream) the chicken pesto sandwich for which their own homemade bread is used and the guarana energy balls.
Unusual as they are, they’re quite unique in their taste. I’m looking forward to spending this winter seated near the fireplace with a bowl of their pumpkin soup and garlic toasts.
The cafe is beautiful. The layout makes this place incredibly comfortable. The food was lovely and really tasty. Me and my boyfriend both had the Grilled Chicken and Salsa meal which was really fresh and the apple crumble to finish off. The food was inexpensive and well worth the hours drive.
I love this place the people are relaxed and easy going and the prices are very reasonable. Service can be a little slow but who cares when you can soak up the atmosphere.
This cafe is fantastic. Beautifully renovated, great ambience, the coffee is the best in Katoomba and the food is delicious, simple but wholesome. Yes, the service is a little slow but who cares, more time to enjoy the sheer beauty of the place. Don't miss it!
Here for food NOT to argue the tax free status. Good luck to the group - seems some locals also have a dose of "sour grapes" - good value and great atmosphere.
This place is amazing. The timber interior is unique and unlike anything I have ever seen. The service is a bit slow but they are very attentive and willing to please. The whole place has a real family, laid back feel about it and everyone seems to work together at their own pace. Excellent value for money.
I went there with two other friends for tea and cake after dinner one cold night and ordered the berry cheesecake and two carrot cakes. A little while later out came three massive servings of cake!! And they were so incredibly cheap, only around $4 each for a huge chunk of home made carrot cake with thick cream cheese icing.
Had to ask them to package the remaining two cakes as between the three of us, we were stuffed after sharing the one piece of carrot cake. I have told all my friends to make the trip to Katoomba just to see Common Ground for themselves!
