In a word Yum! Flavoursome Thai that is reasonably priced (for a change). Servings are huge and service is quick. It does get very busy at lunch time during the week though so be warned.
Went here on a saturday night with a group of friends to find it completely dead! Was told happy hour was from 9 by one of the staff when booking but when ordering drinks the staff didn't know and told me drink prices went up at 9. To top it off they were serving the beer in plastic cups!!!! This isn't the footy its a pub! I passed by the pub a week later to find that they had removed their best and most interesting beer off tap, James Squire Amber Ale. No interest in returning!
I'm surprise that there isn't much reviews here. I've always known of this place but Collector looked so dark and muggy but it has recently been refurbished and upon entering the place is spacious and pretty inviting. I've never actually dine inside but instead I place a pick up take away order. The portion is reasonable and flavour very close to authentic Thai.
I'm not a fan of rice dishes when eating Thai and usually order noodle dishes or mixtures of entree.. I last had spring rolls and money bags which were so good, not oily and full of flavour, also had their chicken wings which is over priced for 4 small pieces and seems to have been marinaded for too long as the taste was too overpowering. The best dish I have had here is the basil chicken stir fry with flat rice noodles, it was cooked to perfection, the vegetables crisp and fresh and it left me feeling very satisfied.
The menu is reasonably priced and great for a cheap and decent meal.
I've been here a couple of times for company lunch. The food was ok, it's somewhere in the middle. I've tried the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Green Curry and Fried Rice. I have to say, I like their Pad Thai the best out of all. The rest are not that good, but not that terrible either. The service can be a bit slow when it's busy. Just a warning, the portion sometimes can be MASSIVE! There are times where I can't even eat half of my plate.
The food here is great. Not the best Thai ever but pretty close to it! And the prices are such good value. Drinks from the bar are a bit expensive but if you play pokies you get free softdrink haha.. Great value for lunch or dinner, have been many times and will go again, only thing is you have to get up and get the food when it's ready (they give you a buzzer) but who cares I guess. Great value.
This is definitely one of the best Thai places in Parramatta. I've been going to the Collector for many, many years and there have been a few changes over that time so it's really nice to have a restaurant that's consistently good. It's a big plus for the Collector.
Taken here by a client and fell in love with the food here. The pub is pretty good also and the food was very good quality and at great prices. If I am in Parramatta ever again, I will stop for a beer and a Pad Tai.
