Delicious food, relaxed ambience (nothing fancy but nice and casual), service friendly enough if you don't mind having to remind waitresses sometimes about requests, excellent value for money - and no corkage. We'll be back because the food is interesting and not your standard modern Australian cafe fare that is dominating the beachfront at Dee Why at the moment.

Now, I am not Brazilian but my partner is and even he says that the food here is pretty damn good and value for money. The cheesy bread (pao de queijo) are always tasty and I have just discovered the polenta chips, delicious! And for the mains, the Barramundi and the chicken stroganoff are good too!

The service here is ok, not the best ever but the waiters are friendly and can help you go through the menu. The ambience really needs to be looked at, I know its Dee Why and all but there just really isn't a whole lot of mood here. The lights need to be turned down, music up (a little) and some candles put out around the place.

I feel that after dark people are attracted to this restaurant because of the fluorescent lights but that doesn't entice them to stay. That said it is always busy from Friday night right through to Sunday evening with Brazilians and the DY locals too!

This restaurant was recommended by a fellow Brazilian, so I went with if not high, optimistic expectations. We arrived, 2 of us plus a baby to a restaurant full except for a table for 4 or a small table outside. The waiter rudely asked if we wouldn't want to sit outside, and being freezing, we said no we would rather take the table inside. We then waited for about 10 minutes for somebody to come take our order.

I asked for pao de queijo for appetizer, and for main Bobo de Camarao and my partner Picanha. It took 20 minutes for the pao de queijo to arrive. I timed it because my partner was annoyed and hungry and went for a walk with the baby, and when he arrived there was still nothing but water on the table. Then the pao de queijo arrived, and they were out of a box you can buy at Kemeny's or another shop that sells brazilian stuff.

I mean, if you are going to have a Brazilian restaurant, at least make the damn bread from scratch. More waiting. Another walk by my partner with the baby. At this point I was embarrassed of being Brazilian and just wanted to leave so I asked how long it was going to take for the food to arrive. Thats when the picanha arrived, at least 30 minutes from when we ordered. And the picanha was sitting there for about 5 minutes before my Bobo arrived.

Now the Bobo was really a milky soup that you had to fish for some ridiculously small shrimp, that you would usually use as bait, and not in a dish. There were also 3 regular sized prawns on the side, grilled and salty to no end, as if to say yes this dish contains shrimp/prawns, in case you are wondering. The rice was alright. I warfed down this awful version of bobo, that any Brazilian, would be ashamed of, and no Bahiano would serve it at home no less at a restaurant, and asked them to wrap my partner's picanha to go.

At this point my partner had given up on eating and was walking around Dee Why with our baby. I am never coming back to this restaurant again. If you want to have Brazilian food, go to one of the Churrasco restaurants, or get an invite to a Brazilian's place, you will eat better, get treated better and not feel like you've been ripped off.

Absolutely brilliant! The selection of dishes was abundant, and they tasted fantastic. Value for money as well, with great service, what more could you ask for? Ambience? Tick, such a funky vibrant feel, recommend going there on a Tuesday night if you like live music. 10/10. Try and stop me from going back!

Sensational! You won't find better food or better value. Staff are super-friendly and helpful and everyone there is always in a happy mood. Love this place!

Thoroughly disappointing! The beef pichana was tasteless, tough and chewy with a very indifferent pichana side to dip it in. My partner took me for dinner here and I felt bad telling him I would not want to go back, 1/10 for food.

Seriously the best food I've ever eaten. My partner and I spent one week in Dee Why and ate at CocoMar every single night. The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful, not to mention good looking! The service was amazing! They have something to suit everyone. We know because we tried just about everything! Delicious!

This is the first time I have been to Coco Mar and definitely value for money and I will be going back. It is a very laid back chilled atmosphere although the lighting could have been more ambient in the evening (dimmed lighting, candles to add to the vibe). The service was good and the menu is excellent.

Coco Mar need to sort out their website as is diverted to domain which is a shame as it would have been good to read more about the place and check out the menu for future reference. Other than that fantastic!
