Dined here Thursday night with my husband, new menu from my last visit. I had the baked snapper, fantastic! my husband equally enjoyed his chicken curry. The coach is a great local with great food, service and not too bad on the pocket either!

After a nasty run-in with the food safety police a few months ago, the Coach & Horses now have new management, hopefully better hygiene standards and are offering the best Wednesday night deal in town.
For $12, you get a thick, juicy rump steak, served with salad and chips plus as many bread rolls as you can eat and a schooner of low carb beer. And they havenâ?®t compromised on quality or quantity. Our steaks were tender, flavoursome and well cooked, just the way we like it. Portions were perfect size, not too large and not too small. Youâ?®ll leave there feeling full but not bloated or overstuffed.
They have specials every weeknight, so just check it out on their website.
Inside, the Coach is still the same place weâ?®ve come to know and like over the years, except the new managers have removed the obstacle course that was the salad bar in front of the food counter. The salads there were always mediocre anyway, so its passing is no loss. And it makes the place look more spacious and less cluttered. Apart from that, there have been a few minor cosmetic changes to the interior with a glass partition now separating the restaurant from the drinking and gaming area.
As always, the atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly. Nothing flash, just basic wooden furniture, carpets to keep the noise levels down and the ubiquitous TVâ?®s on the walls to keep the sports fans happy.
On the Wednesday night that we dined, the crowd was fairly respectable so itâ?®s probably advisable to book ahead or arrive early.
For those who donâ?®t know it, the Coach & Horses Hotel is that ugly red building that dominates the corner of Alison Rd and Avoca Street. Itâ?®s the busiest intersection in town, so parking is a nightmare, if driving. Try nearby Frances Street across the road from the Randwick Town Hall or a side street off Alison Rd.
