The food has really improved here and we have been about 5 times in the last 3 months. We've never had anything bad. The service has been good also. Sitting on the balcony on a sunny day is the best.

Dec 29, 2008 - Food was good and drinks reasonably priced. Menu is fairly good for a pub. We shared the tasting plate which was excellent. Others had swordfish which they said was excellent and another steak. Two of us had the Asian Beef Salad. Beef was nice but overall the salad was very bland. Good generally however. Service was a little lacking with one of the bar staff thinking a bit much of herself. Others ok.

What a Difference Indifferent Staff make... lived and worked in Surry Hills for over 4 years and frequent the Clock on a weekly basis.

We just got back from what was supposed to be a quick partners lunch, just the two of us, one ordered steak medium rare the other barramundi, after 32 minutes waiting we asked for an update, only to be told "oh well this is full service here".....hmm yeah right, I again enquired at 41 minutes, to be told that "you need to rest steak" meals finally arrived, the barra was fine but nothing that could not have been done in 15 minutes and the steak was overcooked and I suspect it was frozen, given that it is the Clock I could almost forgive the wait but the staff that were on that day had a major attitude problem.

Note to the manager, your staff should not discuss drugs in front of patrons, even if in jest....and if you are told the steak is over cooked offer to do something about it, so if you strike a bar tender get up and walk out and go up to somewhere else ,that little experience has turned me off the Clock for some time, oh and at $62 for 2 meals and 2 drinks who are they kidding.

Ended up at The Clock on Tuesday night, 30/11/10, for a promotional beer tasting thing. I’ve never been here before and was impressed. Great interior, really well fit out, fast bar service and ended up being really good food.

I went the prosciutto pizza, lovely crisp (real handmade) base topped with enough prosciutto, rocket and cheese to give it lots of flavour but to ensure that it wasn’t greasy or heavy.

Husband went classic beer battered fish and chips, was described as the best fish and chips he’s ever eaten. Batter was light and crunchy, fish inside was still tender and moist.

Food was a bit slow to arrive, so not great if you’re in a rush, we weren’t, so wasn’t a problem. Overall, pub food can be a bit hit and miss but this was right on the mark.

A very cool place. A bit too far from any decent public transport but other than that, its all good. Good food, fresh beer and nice wine. Kind of a hip sort of place, not rough.

I hate the Clock and the White Horse and the Dolphin and those kinds of pubs, I like the real pubs. But food here is good, service is efficient and sufficient, I am not expecting much service at this kind of place. But why go here? It's so bland and has no charm and surry hills is full of nice and cosy and characterful as other places.

What a disappointment! The menu sounds great but is such a let down, overpriced and boring, this place is trying too hard to be something its not. The tables took ages to be cleared and the staff seemed uninterested and board, don't think we'll be back for a long time.

Fabulous! Great tapas style starters and the main stuff is very very tasty! You do need to order at the bar but the staff are super friendly and helpful! Try the oh hello cocktail and nab a seat on the balcony!

Fantastic! In the realm of Pub grub the Clock has come along way! Something has changed recently that has given the Clock a fresh edge over the other venues around town! Food was beautifully prepared and well priced. Service was prompt and very polite and the cocktails were to die for! Good work team, keep up the good work!

The food and drinks here are way overpriced and overrated. Limited wine list with some very average choices. I have had much better choice in less posh and pretentious places. Saying that a great place and location to catch up with friends. The balcony on a sunny afternoon is one of the best in The Hills. Many friends of mine have attended events here and always had a good time.

Lunch here was terrible, my girlfriend and I ordered an entree to share and two mains. After an hour, we received our mains before our entree and a healthy dose of attitude from the bar man/waiter. The meals were hardly worth waiting for. We should have left and picked up a sandwich from the many cafe/restaurants in the area and sat in the sun. Needless to say neither of us have been back.
