Cute little place, pity about the food. Service was ok, but cold toast, cold coffee. With plenty of competition in Glebe, there will be other places that can serve their customers much better. I won't be returning to this establishment.

Nice enough place in terms of atmosphere, service not exactly friendly, menu a little pretentious.

Took over 40 minutes for food to arrive when there were so few customers in cafe (discovered later why this was the case!)
Ordered the chicken caesar (14) and it contained the driest chicken I have ever tasted in my life, it was inedible! hugely disappointed. A combination of poor management in kitchen and a donna hay cook instead of chef in kitchen.

The Clipper is a great little cafe with excellent coffee! The staff are friendly and the ambience is awesome - if you like a busy cafe. They have a long communal bench for working, talking, spreading out and generally relaxing. I had a lamb salad here last time which was quite nice. The breakfast is outstanding - suggest the beans or pancakes. Highly recommend the Clipper.

It’s hard to miss the rustic-chic white terrace house that Clipper Café inhabits (the only thing missing is the white picket fence). Inside the decor is cute, the walls are adorned with quirky paraphernalia, vintage photographs and two old school pedal pusher bikes.
Judging by the buzzing atmosphere when we arrived, Clipper is a local go-to spot for weekend brunch and it gets packed out early. Luckily we didn’t have to wait, but if you do find yourself counting sheep in the line, try the recently opened Madame Frou Frou or Wedge Espresso down the road. The menu has lots of variety and while we’ve heard the service can be a hit and miss, it was nothing but friendly during our visit.
We tried two dishes:
1. the eggs & prosciutto which was an awesome combo, featuring a tasty, sweet relish and
2. the baked eggs with roasted mushrooms & herbed bread. The serving was generous, although the Napoli sauce really overpowered the mushrooms and the eggs, which were slightly overcooked.

Love, love, love this place. The coffee is awesome and always comes with a smile. The breakfast is well priced and delicious. I'm slowly working through the menu but always seem to fall back on the baked eggs. Couldn't recommend it more.

Ducked in here this morning to get breakfast with my housemate. Simple? One would have thought so. But no. Started off asking for fried eggs with ... Interrupted.
"No, you can't have fried eggs!". "But it says fried eggs on the page here", I pleaded "Yes, but that's listed as an 'extra', you have to order something else and add the fried eggs to that". "But I would like fried eggs...". "We only do poached eggs". "Well what's this baked eggs dish? "Oh, that's baked eggs. We do that too"?
It was all too much. Gave in to the dictatorial waitress and settled for an overly extravagant poached eggs number served on a small bread roll which had been chopped in half. The poached eggs were perfectly runny, which begs the question as to why such a parsimonious amount of bread was offered. Runny yolk + small amount of bread = unhappy breakfast eater.
Still don't know why I had to have parmesan cheese and pesto sauce lathered on top of my eggs. I actually just wanted to be able to sit down and ask for a meal prepared to my liking. Not the liking of the inflexible staff.
My housemate ordered the baked eggs and an orange juice. "No, we don't do orange juice." "But it says fresh orange juice here on the menu". "No, but that's part of the detox juice. You can have detox, lift kick or refresher - they're different juice mixes". "I just want an orange juice, can you make the detox with just oranges and nothing else?" ".....No." "Okay, whatever".
Spent half an hour waiting for it all to come out.
The detox juice was predominantly orange juice, anyway, with chunks of ginger and as it was freshly juiced, we still don't see why they couldn't take the ginger and carrot out and chuck in two extra oranges.
Or why eggs, cooked to the customer's liking was too much to ask.
In their determination to set up a menu which is distinct from other cafes, they have forgotten that at the heart of a cafe breakfast is the need to serve a quick, simple and satisfying meal, prepared to a customer's liking. Instead, at Clipper Cafe you're stuck with whatever dish the waitress designs to admit is both on the menu and in the kitchen.
Also, they only take cash. No Eftpos. The nearest ATM is three blocks away.
The coffee was good though.

Stepped in for a pretty average coffee. Service was ok, although not too friendly and a tad inexperienced. Enjoyed the country syle cafe ambience. This one is definitely for the students although I should return to sample their breakfast or brunch.

Came for lunch with a friend. It's so close to my workplace, can't believe I never discovered it! Love the wall decorations and the colours of the cafe. It's cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The food was tasty. I had the poached eggs with napoli sauce with mushrooms and served with garlic herb bread. Yummy! Will to back to try other items next chance I get.

I love dropping in during uni breaks with friends. The food is such good value and so delicious! It does attract a pretty trendy crowd, but if that doesn't bother you, I highly recommend it.
I like to order the homemade baked beans with poached eggs and herb bread. For $10 - and sometimes I can't finish it. The chai here is also excellent. The waiters can be a tiny bit vague, but who cares?
