I went there for my birthday with a few friends around 9 pm. We had no reservations but were still sited promptly. Though the service was friendly, the food, however, was terrible. The topping cream on the iced chocolate had gone off but the other iced chocolate we ordered (without cream) tasted ok. There was a thick layer of oil at the bottom of my bowl of spaghetti which literally made me sick.
The calamaris were dry and the crepes with spinach filling seemed to have been filled with only spinach, pretty gross. I didn’t pay but the prices on the menu seemed ridiculous considering the quality of the food we got.
I went there with my partner at 6pm on Sunday. The waiters were friendly and the food was served fairly promptly. However, the meat patty of my burger was not cooked properly. On ordering another one, I discovered the same mistake had happened again. My partner was unhappy with her utterly disgusting minestrone soup, which tasted nothing like the actual thing.
The quality of the food would probably be Ok value at half the price, but for the price it was average ie my satay chicken skewers on rice had lots of fat. The salad was tasty, as was the very nice bread roll. The staff looked a little bored and service was a bit slow, and the place was hardly full.
Last time I was there I ordered a hot chocolate with cream, I wouldn't exactly say that's what I got though.. it was like.. 1/4 hot chocolate and the rest was cream... it was actually quite disgusting but I have to say I love their double chocolate pan cakes, they are good for food and are always open.
I came in at about midnight and was greeted by a manager named Frank. He was very polite and was very attentive to our needs, whilst our food was a little late the manager took great care of us and made our visit pleasant, great job guys!!
I've been there a couple of times and everytime I've been its either been good or bad. No consistency. The food is usually okay. But the service has been pretty bad on the times I've been. I went last week and ordered a drink, glass of water, and never got it despite telling the waitress like four times. I never got my drink I finished my meal and asked again and never got it. I walked out of there thirsty and went to the convenient store up the road and bought a drink there. lol
The service is poor; the place is just an upmarket McDonalds with the price tags of Mazda (the Japanese manufacturer that thinks they are above the tag of 'Japanese manufacturer') however...
In the middle of the night when nothing else is open, and you don't feel like a big Mac, you know what to expect. The place has been around for nearly 20 years because it fills a niche. Don't go CHOOSE to go there if it's before 9pm.
$4.80 for a Diet Coke. I almost threw up on myself I was that revolted. Surely there is a law against charging almost $5 for 12c worth of water and syrup??
As you can probably guess, I'm not that stoked with my visit to City Extra. My nachos were over priced and obviously reheated (the sweating cheese was a dead give away) and my boyfriends burger and chips cost him $18.60. He had to pay extra for cheese because it wasn't included, and it didn't even come with tomato. How un-Australian is that.
The staff were pleasant I suppose, but not particularly attentive, and the atmosphere was nothing to write home about.
I considered getting dessert, I didn't fancy applying for a personal loan to fund it.
It is expensive but where else can you get a decent meal at 4am. I also like the variety. My favourites are the scrambled eggs, the Pavlova and the Chicken and Mushroom Crepe. Service is always at least ok, I know what to expect from this place, it's always consistent. For a Saturday (Big Night or special occasion) go somewhere else.
Had a late lunch, food was ok, I waited about 15-20 minutes to be served, food came out 20 minutes later I only ordered a BLT wit chips, then we paid for our meals had to wait a further 10 minutes to get my change.
