Certainly would not be my first choice, but we are not exactly spoiled for choice in this area and didn't feel like paying out the big bucks just to be ripped off. This was a servicable choice, for sustenance before a movie, and to be quite honest, I was pleasantly surprised.
There was nothing wrong with my minestrone and bread roll, though of course price was not exactly suburban food court. So qualified and cautious recommendation, if you want to sit down and the food part is not a highlighted feature of your evening, well, this will do! Still would not go out of my way though.

It's not too bad if you want the cheap-and-nasty, on-the-go, quick eats. The menu is humungous, it gives me a headache. Don't try the salad, I went there a few times, and in the few time, have managed to always find a hair in there. Go there if you want something that's famous for "open 24 hours", and you'll know it's that sort of place.
I often come here for breakfast during the week. The food is decent for the type of venue, but don't expect gourmet dining. Free wireless internet while dining is also good for catching up on news and affairs before work. The drab, dated interior and occasional pungent smell wafting in from the ocean lets the ambience slide.
I have found the best thing here is the female staff. They are always smiling, always chatty if you give them an opening, and very polite. Nothing can be said for the male staff, who are nowhere to be found!
Don't judge a book by its cover: I went there on Saturday night, we had family with us including two children aged 4 and 2. My expectations were not very high and I was actually not so pleased to be going there. Well, they surprised me. The food was acceptable, nothing great bit really quite ok. I had the shepherds pie and found it quite nice, albeit savoury mince under a potato crust. But no complaints.
The service, all young wait staff, was quick and attentive. They fussed over the kids, who responded by behaving and as we left they commented on what lovely kids they were. A nice touch, we tend to remember the last part of an event more so than anything else.
I am surprised to say, that for a quick and easy meal, reasonable quality, quantity and price, City Extra can expect to see me again. Pleasantly surprised, didn't expect 5 star quality and came away very happy with what we got. Prices, well, you pay for convenience and location. I had no problem with them or the prices.
I ordered the Chili Dip, which was described as a "bowl of chili with tortilla chips and sour cream". What came was a bowl of tortilla chips with a spoonful of chili and sour cream. I was highly disappointed, not to mention angry, that I was spending $14 on a bowl of chips with a bit of topping. Everything else on the menu seemed extremely overpriced.
I've been there during my lunch break with a friend. As I was short of time, I've just ordered a salad from the menu. The food got on the table after not even 5 minutes and that was great but, unfortunately, not what I've ordered. As I made my choice very quickly, I thought it may be my fault so I tried it. That salad was the worst I have ever had, overdressed, the bread crunches tested like they've been seating in the kitchen for at least a week and the lettuce as well as the bread.
I let the waitress know who took my order was mistaken and she apologized offering to change my food with the right one but, unfortunatly, I did not have any time left of my lunch break. I said it was fine but I was really disappointed about that salad. After not even 1 minute another waitress came to the table with an attitude saying I will be charged for it because I was eating it.
I just tested it and I had never asked anyone to take it off my bill. What a bad experience. Next lunch break I will rather go to elsewhere, at least I will know I won't pay $19 for junk food.
My friends all ordered pies but I noticed they aren't actually pies because it was just pie fillings plus a layer of puff pastries on top - all in a pie dish. I ordered their Mix Grill but unlike most Mix Grills, they replaced the more expensive meat with Chicken Wing. The taste wasn't bad but not too exciting. I'm not sure if it was a busy night but they brought out everyone's food and mine wasn't served until my friends almost finished so it was rather embarrassing for me since everyone wait and watch me eat.
We walked in and sat down at a table and a big strong smell of vomit was around. I do like the menu format. We ordered strawberries and cream, sticky toffee pudding and camomile tea. The strawberries we were served were overripe, some smelt foul, the sticky toffee pudding was alright until we both bit into crunchy bits of egg shell.
The tea was good since it wasn't their own cooking. Quite disappointed to end the night on such a note. The staff were nice although foul language in front of customers is inappropriate.
