Went for breakfast this morning and was very impressed. Service was attentive (a coffee order was forgotten but things do happen and they were busy) and the serving portions enormous. Would recommend sharing a breakfast dish between 2 people and maybe ordering an extra side of something rather than 2 individual dishes. We had more than enough to eat and still took home around 6 rashers of leftover bacon for the dog. Incredible value for money. Coffee frappes are among the best I have had anywhere in Sydney.
Our only complaint was that we were seated at the last table before the kitchen and one of the staff proceeded to bang and clang cutlery as he was drying it behind us so loudly it was hard to talk. Either move the cutlery station out the back or give your staff a punching bag to vent their frustrations on so diners can enjoy their meal without unnecessary noise. Otherwise a very good cafe.
We used to come here frequently before the renovations which are fantastic. The place looks so much better, much cleaner and classier with added booths for small groups. We were worried that the menu may have changed, and were grateful that it hadn’t.
There were some extras on the specials board that we hadn’t tried before. We were there for a light lunch and ended up having the seafood chowder, and a great slice of nut encrusted tiramisu and chai latte. We will definitely be going back for their huge breakfasts, lunches. Apparently now they do dinner and offer BYO which only adds to the great value of eating here.
Dined there for dinner tonight (Saturday) with my girlfriend and it was a great experience. The new decor since the renovation provides the cafe/restaurant with a plush intimate new look. The seating arrangements have now become more intimate and I love it!
The service was fast and friendly with a homely and welcome feel, Citrus has now become a very nice place to dine with family and friends. The food came out looking great and tasted even better! value for money with large portions!
I have been to Citrus Cafe twice in the last week. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. The food has been amazing, the servings are very generous, it is great value for money and we weren't wating for ages to get our food....definitely going back.
Had a great night at the newly renovated "Cirtus Cafe". The food was really nice and of good value for money given their generous portion sizes. Service was great, definitely will go back for prawn risotto and an affagato. Highly recommend.
We sat for over 30 mins at Citrus 8 waiting for a coffee, juice and lunch and when we asked what the delay was we were told our order was never placed with the kitchen! No apology, no nothing so we walked out. People sitting next to us left after sitting for 10 mins without being served. Such a pity as everyone else's food looked fantastic, but at the end of the day if you don't provide good service you have nothing. Won't be going back...
Love their breakfast, wholesome simple breakfast in very generous portions. Bacon and Eggs for $8.90 is an absolute bargain given he amount of bacon they shovel on to your plate!
Coffee is pretty good and they're pretty quick to bring everything out. If you're up for an easy, big breakfast I don't think you'll find better value in Newtown!
We came here for breakfast on a weekday as most other places we walked past were closed. It's really noisy inside, we had to yell at several points, but my French toast was DIVINE, and my partner was very happy with his waffles too. Large servings, tastes fantastic, try not to get lost in the alley to the toilet!
Huge servings of food with heaps of choice. Love the chai lattes here. I find the service a bit inconsistent and sometimes when busy it is a bit cramped but apart from that a good little cafe.
