Overview of Chophouse

Chophouse is located at 25 Bligh St Sydney.

Designed as a tribute to the old New York steakhouse, Chophouse references a bygone era. Inspired by the industrial and perhaps even a subtle nod to the rawness of the abattoir, the building’s original substructure has been unearthed. Elements have been stripped back to their raw, primitive nature while maintaining a certain edge and sex appeal.

Chophouse is a culinary and visual experience.

Best steakhouse in Sydney. Staff are friendly and attentive. Every time I go there the food is always good.

Entrees of prawns and calamari, and kingfish sashimi were excellent. Steaks were also excellent but wasn't totally impressed by the lamb salad. The place was noisy so luckily we were on the side near the wall, also a bit dark making it difficult to read the menu.

Service was down and up, the guy who showed us to our table offered water and then forgot us, the waitress who then looked after us for the rest of the evening was excellent.

We thought the mark up on wines was exorbitant, and overall the place was a bit expensive for what you got.

The food was quite amazing! I felt my steak was more rare than medium rare. So I switched with my boyfriend for his chicken. It was quite delish! The ambience was very lovely, I did find it a bit dark but besides that the decor was very cosy and like a true chophouse!

Service was impeccable, entrees came out in a timely manner, and both mains out at the same time and sides came a few minutes after. The only bad thing about the service was the guy reading the specials, he said it waaaay too fast for me to remember what the last one he said was and he only said it towards my boyfriend so I couldn't even hear. Everything else was fine. Lovely place a bit pricey. But for the service and food it was worth it I guess. Everybody else seems to think so, the bar and restaurant being packed on a weekday.

Had Dinner with friends on a weeknight. It was quite busy for a weekday but the service was great. It was professional and slick. My entree of pork belly and scallops was top class. My main of Wagyu was Ok but not great. Overall it was a good place but a little on the expensive side.

Steak was perfect, does not need sauce. Having said that, the sauce was also very good. Dessert menu was to die for, especially the cheesecake and the cookies and cream chocolate block.

Waiters kept bumping into my friends' seats as they walked past which was slightly annoying.

I've been to Chophouse three times and the steaks have been perfect in all occasions. The crispy pork belly salad is always a treat and the steaks just melts in your mouth. The ambience feels like a gentlemen's club and very dungeon-like setting. Yes, the prices are expensive but that's normal pricing for great dead carcasses!

A group of 12 of us went to Chophouse for dinner on a Friday night. The food was very good and very consistent. The standout for me was the Crisp Pork Belly & Sea Scallop salad. The flavour combination worked extremely well, and I would say this was one of the best salads I've ever had! The Tomato & Boccocini side was also very nice. I had the Pasture Fed Petit Fillet (MB2+) as the main, and it was cooked so well it retained the right amount of juice and was tender. Prior to arriving at Chophouse, I called ahead to request for some space to park my pram. They left us quite a generous space for it, which really helped. I would gladly return to Chophouse!

My wife and I went to Chophouse on a Saturday night with another couple. Greeting and service was great and the ambience of the room terrific. Glad to say that even with a live singer it was still easy to have conversation. However, if you don't want red meat then don't go to this restaurant since they don't cater for this option well.

Entrees were nice without being special. My wife and I both ordered the BBQ Octopus salad. Barely large enough to be a side dish let alone a main. Had to search to find some octopus and what was there was quite tough. One of our party ordered the Barramundi for main. Piece of fish about the size of a $5 note on a small pile of vegies.

The one person in our group who had a steak said it was really nice. Desserts were fantastic. Basically suggest only to go to this restaurant if you want a meat meal. They should take seafood out of the cuisines mentioned in their profile above.

Went on the weekend with some friends who have been talking about it for a while. Food was brilliant, left me craving more of the short sticky ribs! Never knew it was there but glad I do know! The only thing that let it down was the server, might have caught her on a bad night but the other staff was disappointingly rude. But will definitely give it another go as the food was spectacular! LOL
