Definitely up there in the "cheap eats" category, especially if you like Chinese seafood. Chong Hing doesn't pretend to be gourmet. But the service is friendly, the food is hot and plentiful, and if you go with a group you can eat very well for under $15 per person.

Okay cheap place to eat. Was packed on a Monday night.

We got the set menu (plus soup which was very tasty, and rice). The fried chicken with spices was deliciously hot. We also got shandon chicken (a miss), eggplant (a bit goopy), stiry-fry green beans (pretty good), beef curry (not bad), mushroom and veges. The dishes were reasonably good for value although a bit oily.

Service was good although they forgot one of our dishes. Not a problem as we had more than enough to eat.

Restaurant was full (on a Wednesday night), so would say locals have already discovered the great food. The most delicious aromas from the kitchen were a promise of things to come. XO beans, Chicken and vegetables with white sauce, plum and pepper pork chops, 3 cup chicken, salt and pepper chicken wings, prawns and noodles, all absolutely delicious and generous serves.

And the service was most attentive and helpful. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Our party of five enjoyed the best Chinese food we have tasted for years! This restaurant is a real gem and definitely worth a visit. Excellent value for money. We will be back!

This place is my favourite Chinese regular. The chicken wings are the best fried chicken in town, bar none. The special pork mince with salty fish is great and the staff are very helpful when you ask what's good today. Best on the Anzac Pde strip. Long live Chong Hing!

This is a below par chinese restaurant, the food was not authentic and was poorly presented. There were eight diners and although we all had enough food between us the quality and flavours were lacking. We started off with soup which looked more liked and tasted similar to dish washing water.

The worst dish ordered was the duck and taro hot pot (the dish was drowned in oyster sauce and the taro was half raw, not a good combination really). Overall it was a cheap eats for university students with a tight budget. If you're expecting something decent go elsewhere.

This is place is awful. The staff are unorganised, people were getting the wrong dishes, the service is slow, the food is salty and not that tasty. Won't be back!!

Regardless of what you order it never fails to disappoint. Helpful service, good food selection and fresh produce. All at a price that regardless cannot be beaten.

We dined here with my parents who have been several times. Each time without fail they order the "special" so why break with tradition. On the walls they have a set menu for 4, 5, 6 or 8 people and all menus feature a lot of seafood which is a rarity but a welcome sight. We chose the menu A for 4 people and weren't disappointed.

Shortly after we order, the house soup (clear vegetable and pork broth) arrives for which we were very pleased as it was cold and they seemed to like keeping the door open. Then with the rice arrives the first dish, pork strips with mixed vegetables-fabulously tender strips of tasty pork with shiitake mushrooms, boy choy and other veges perfectly cooked-definitely one of my favourites, especially the pork strips.

Then the prawns with creamy sauce arrives, the creamy sauce being a tangy Praise type mayo which was a little too heavy handed for my liking (I never liked Praise mayo) but I managed to secure some relatively sauceless pieces. They are beautifully crisp, large prawns generously garnished with perfectly steamed broccoli with a light saute sauce. I was surprised to see that there were so many prawns and that they had taken care with the garnish.

The honey pepper pork ribs arrives, unfortunately, I wasn't as fond of these as I'd hoped, they weren't terrible by any means, perfectly edible and tasty in fact, just not quite the harmonious mix of honey and black pepper that I've had in the past.

The last dish to arrive was supposed to be chicken with celery. There wasn't any celery and I wonder if it was the right dish but no matter at all as it was the firm favourite with my father. Underneath sat a bed of deep fried chicken morsels and on top sat a mound of the tenderest sauteed chicken and veges.

My husband commented that it was a good mix of steameed and fried and I have to agree. There was plenty leftover, actually about a whole plate's worth. I neglected to mention that serving sizes are very generous and I think 3 dishes with soup and rice are sufficient or if you have 5 people, you would probably be happy with the set menu for 4. The damage was a princely sum of $44.80!

We dropped into this lovely little find, purely because of the large amounts of people gathered inside and the aromas pouring out as we walked past. This place is great for the usual Chinese favourites. They do the salt and pepper squid really well. Also worth trying is the Hokkien fried rice and Grandpa Bean Curd. As if the prices weren't cheap enough already, they also have specials available all day. Service is also another surprise, with polite and smiling waiters and waitresses available. We saw one family with a very demanding mother, being obligingly served by the staff, no matter how demanding she was. This place is definitely worth coming back for with friends to try even more dishes next time.

The salt and pepper chicken wings are fabulous. The sambal French beans are pretty good too. It is amazing value. This place is a definite if you want a quick, tasty, cheap and no fuss meal. Good place for take away too.
