I've eaten Northern Chinese food at restaurants in Ashfield and this place is just a forgery of the real thing. Sure the noodles are handmade, but the texture is gluey and floury. Stir fries are very oily and as for their dumplings - taste like frozen packaged ones. Definitely not made fresh in the premises. Dumpling pastry is thick and floury and inwards have that funny frozen taste. A real disappointment and a far cry from the genuine handmade delicious soup dumplings which they are supposed to represent.
Definitely not recommended, even if it's the only restaurant in the vicinity which offers Northern Chinese cuisine.
Very good Northern Chinese food and is excellent nonetheless. The hot and sour soup with dumplings is a good mix and the spring pancakes are fantastic. The handmade noodles are wonderful and the food is very reasonably priced. I would certainly recommend.
This is yet another place that definintely caters for people on a 'student budget'. The food is quite good - I do recommend the handmade noodles (my favourite is the sliced noodle) and the dumplings and shallot pancakes. I would have given the food a higher rating if the chicken from one of the noodle dishes I ordered was cooked properly!
It was a busy night (very very loud, difficult to hold a conversation with the person sitting next to you) and they must've rushed through the cooking, which was a real disappointment. We told the waitress and she took it back, and gave us another dish. Come here if you want a quick, cheap dinner, but not if you want to impress anyone!
The restaurant has delicious hand made noodle, and I also enjoy their dumplings. Even though the place isn't very ambient but the value is worth it . You cannot find a cheaper place for noodles in Sydney.
If you wanna eat where the Chinese eat (Northern), then this is it. Their specialities are really second to non in Sydney. Ie. nothing in Chinatown can match these guys. The dumplings, the steamed buns handmade noodles are the way to go. DO NOT order cantonese dishes like sweet and sour (its like baking a lasagne for these guys) order their specilities, and try the salt and pepper tofu. The prices reflect the decor so don't have a first date here. Even celebrity chef Kylie Kwong is on the bandwagon here.
Awesome value for money - great place for a satisfying meal for under $10 per person! Frequented by people from the university because the quality and price of food surpasses the plain interior. Service is prompt and helpful - we are regulars. The boiled dumplings and spring onion pancake are recommended.
Tacky looking and it shows with the pricing. Cheap and delicious food. Dry Beef fried noodle, Shallot pancake and any of the hand-made noodles dishes taste great. Service is friendly and punctual.
Huge portions, great service and very delicious food! Eat there regularly, and definitely recommend their egg sauce and rice noodle dish as well as the shallot pancake and handmade noodle dishes. The ambience is not great but you don't really expect that for the price you pay for your dishes.
