Take away review only. We have been to China Moon 3 times now. Initially we just had dumplings and dim sim and they were fantastic, so next time we got mains as well. Bad idea. Tried the garlic chicken and my partner had another dish- can't remember what- both were nearly inedible. The garlic chicken had an overpowering raw garlic taste and was very glutinous.

We though we would give them another go. Again, the dumplings (pork and bok choy this time) were lovely, but the mains were terrible. I ordered panang curry (I know, more fool me ordering a Thai dish from a Chinese restaurant), it was unlike any curry I have experienced and was utterly inedible. even my partner, who will generally eat anything, found it unpalatable and certainly nothing like a normal panang curry- no yellow colour, no sweetness, no coconut cream.

His dish, Kung Po chicken, was also pretty gross. Again it was glutinous, had very little flavour. All main dishes have also had a limited variety of veges- a couple of bits of capsicum, carrot, and some very chunky onion (found a nearly whole onion in one dish).

The only redeeming parts of this restaurant are the dumplings, and their very good website (not that you'd want to order anything!).

Do not order from this place! We have ordered four times and they have missed items from the order every time. Each time they give us a credit against a future order so we end up going back like lemmings (the food is ok), but enough is enough and no more, thank you. Best avoid.

China Moon I want my $70 back! The fried rice was yukky, the dumplings were hard, cold and didn't come with any sauce. The duck pancakes were all stuck together, just one big soggy mess. The 'crispy' chicken was anything but. And., we waited an hour and 15 to for the privilege (after they estimated 50 minutes over the phone). On a positive note, I think the dog enjoyed it.

Tried this for the first time tonight and I must say this place is going to be big news soon. The staff were cool and attentive, good tunes and Monteiths Cider on tap! Def trying the yum cha next weekend.

Made the phone call for delivery on a Friday night, we were excpecting a bit of delay, so they told us an hour and we thought, that was bearable. It took them 2 hours to deliver bad food! And to top it off, the delivery driver didn’t even care!

The white rice was uncooked, cooked but still hard. The salt and pepper pork was soaked in oil. The short soup was luke warm. And the mongolian lamb tastes like soap. Did I mention that everything was drench in oil?

I know what to expect when I order Chinese food, but when you get the bottom of the barrel, it’s just too much. The meal was just too disappointing to let it go. And, if I had taken my $40 anywhere else, I would get more of a serving.

Overall, really good place to eat. Good food overall but the dumplings and BBQ Pork bun were the standouts for me. Good background music and nice friendly staff with attentive service. Tap Tiger beer...need I say more. Lot of take-away orders, which is usually a good sign.

You know when you are so hungry because you haven't eaten all day, and when your food finally arrives it is so disgusting you can barely eat most of it? Welcome to China Moon. My experience begun positively when the woman who answered the phone could speak English, and was very friendly, albeit saying she'd call back in 2 minutes and 15 minutes later nothing. The barramundi spring rolls were quite nice, and the king prawns with snow peas were edible. However, here is where the positives end. Between us we had beef in oyster sauce, chinese mushroom and brocolli, mixed vegetables and tan tong chicken. Everything was so bland and tasteless it was like eating overpriced gooey air, smothered in grease. Every dish was essentially have a tub of oil with half a tub of goo, and ingredients that tasted like nothing. I have never known anywhere to screw up beef and oyster sauce before but apparently it can be done. Would never eat there again. Disgusting and bland food.

I've just discovered this gem on Bondi Road after walking past it for over a year! New management have re done the inside and have changed the menu although they have kept the old chef I'm told and still deliver the takeaway menu. Good music, awesome dumplings and friendly staff, we paid $50 for 2 of us with a tap beer!
