Food was of good quality but presentation was appalling. Chateaubriand is sliced fillet steak served on a bed of iceberg lettuce and diced capsicum on side! Coquille St Jacques is frozen? scallops swimming in a dish of cheese sauce and a sprig of parsley! Its like a 1960's timewarp. Restaurant was full on a Tuesday night and only one waitress who was run off her feet, very squashed table.

Wouldn't hurry back, apart from the fact that there is very little competition locally other than asian restaurants, not sure why it is so popular!

Great little place for fabulous authentic french food. It can get a little crowded and noisy but the food is worth it and in some respects the noise adds to the character of the place. This is definitely one to go back to again and again.

A consistently satisfying experience when dining. The uncluttered menu always offers a great selection of dishes which are hard to pick between. From the introductory pate to the dessert, each serving is delicious and served efficiently. The overall value for money is excellent. The natural, unpretentious hospitality of both Maurice and Linda always makes for a relaxed and satisfying dining experience.

I went to this understated restaurant on a Wednesday evening with 3 friends and it was packed. I favour very lowly lit restaurants and this didn't comply also the toilet is out the back and down some stairs, but, the food is wonderful. I had the Duck a l'orange and it was so tender, moist and tasty. It is classic French cooking and if you are thinking of going, you must book. My friends all loved their meals and we had a great time.

Such a great find! We visited on a Wednesday night and the place was almost full, so glad we booked. I had the snails - lovely and garlicky! - and the beef wellington, which was cooked perfectly. All the others in my party were equally delighted with their choices. Love the pate to start! I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviews that stress the value for money. It's not the most luxurious fit out, but you're there for the food, right? We'll definitely be back.

Had a family get together here last night. First time visit for all 8 of us.
The food was very good. The service was good.

We were a little surprised that the place was pretty much full on a Tuesday night, and that there was only one person serving (Linda, je pense). There are not a lot of tables, but it was still quite a few people for one person to manage, but it all seemed to work Ok for us (we were first table in so maybe this meant we didn't notice any delays).

All the food was very good to excellent. Maybe the beef wellington was a fraction overcooked (asked for medium-rare but it was closer to medium). My chateaubriand was very good (rare/saignant). The other meat dishes were all cooked to order and went down a treat.

For Tuesday we thought it may have been a fraction quieter, it is not a large place and so when fairly full is not really quiet. So probably not a romantic French restaurant, more a convivial place to eat.

Very pleased we went and all had great meals and service with a smile (and gracefully suffering my poor French and appreciating my daughter's, sister's and mother's better French).

We will be back I am sure.

After hearing mixed reviews about Chez Maurice et Linda, my partner and I went there a couple weeks ago. The food was brilliant value for money; it was classic and beautifully cooked. Service was prompt and welcoming, and Maurice came over at the end of the evening for a chat, which was quite nice.

If you are looking for a modern menu in a stylish setting, then this is not the place to go. If you are looking for classic French food done well, then this is a great place to go!

I have had some amazing meals all over the world and I've learned a little about food, so when I say that the food at Chez Maurice Et Linda is great I am not kidding.

I am a fan of fine dining using the freshest ingredients and resulting in appetizing, delicious and generous dishes. This restaurant does not disappoint. The ‘escargot’ and ‘chateaubriand’ are just two exceptional dishes from this wonderful French eatery. You don't need to spend 'big' money to be impressed.

My husband and I first dined at Chez Maurice et Linda in 1991 when it was located in Mosman and we lived in Neutral Bay. Back then, we were regulars, sometimes eating there once a week.

Two house moves, 20 years and three children later we still manage to get there for a meal from time to time, despite Maurice's move to Balgowlah which makes it a 40-minute drive for us.

Two weeks ago, we ate there with four friends who live in the area and were not disappointed.

Maurice and his wife, Linda, serve down-to-earth french food in an unpretentious atmosphere. The value is amazing. The 2-course or 3-course 'prix fixe' menu, plus the fact that it's BYO, make it especially good if you're going with other couples.

Don't come here if you're after fancy, cutting-edge dishes. In 20 years, most things on the menu have not changed, with good reason. The regulars love the menu: simple, hig-quality ingredients cooked well.

Things may be different during the week but Friday and Saturday nights are busy and the restaurant can be noisy.

Great french food accompanied by great service. Never mind the decor, taste the food. The menu is classic French and rarely changes but is so well cooked this place rewards repeat visits.
