Went here with some girlfriends for a Saturday lunch and was quite shocked at how awful it was. Thought a cafe in the main strip of Double Bay would have standards to live up to. Not so. The food was cold, the servings were small, the value was abysmal and the service was atrocious.
One of our party asked for toilet paper to use the loos which were filthy and the waitress pointed to a pile of paper bills on the counter and said, 'Use those.' There must be decent cafes/restaurants in the area but this is not one of them. Stay away. Stay far away.
Worst restaurant experience ever. Food was over 2hours late, even water for the table was 2hours late. The staff hasn’t a clue as he kept on giving out conflicting messages when all had to do was tell the truth. The poor waiter was left stranded and hope he leaves that joke of a restaurant for the sake of his sanity.
However the clincher for me was when the tapas came the 3rd course was potato wedges and the 5th 9" pizzas, we may as well have gone to Pizza Hut, at least there we would have been served on time.
Then there was no communication with upstairs so if they say you can get in for free and have free champagne waiting for you they are Lying, just like they Lied all night!!! Also some of the vodka & pineapple drinks didn’t contain any vodka!!! Make your own mind up.
We went to Cherri Jam for a birthday party recently. The food (what little of it arrived), was served two hours late, despite having been pre-ordered during the week. It was dreadful. And the service was even worse with a "I don't think that's my job and I really don't care if it is, actually" attitude, thrown in.
The pre-order also involved them promising the birthday celebrant that all the guests could get into the club for free. No-one had relayed this to the doormen or the apparent owner of the club who insisted that we all pay $10 to enter. The (we're seriously cool and don't think you lot are) attitude of all the staff was disturbing and if it had not been our friend's birthday, we would have left long before.
On a Saturday night, there was barely anyone in the club. The atmosphere was poor, the drinks were expensive and what should have been a great night out was ruined. Do not go to this place.
Had a fantastic party with some awesome canapes & tapas, don't usually drink cocktails but once the bartender got me onto the 'day at the races' I was in heaven. Haven't been here for a while as last time I went I was less than impressed with the whole affair, but it seems there's a lot of new faces (staff & party goers). Cherrijam is definitley on X'mas hit list!
I have been here once before for a private function and it was amazing. Decided to go again the other night, which will be the last time I ever go there. First we wanted a table of 6, everything was set up for tables of 4 and they couldn't move them until other people left... fair enough.
Second, they used to have these awesome freshly made chips with dip (picture fresh hot kettle-like chips). Ordered them and they looked like frozen grocery store chips with paprika on them. Annoyed but still ok, we wanted some nice sauce to make it better. Garlic Aioli.....they didn't have it. Mayo?!...They didn't have it. I'm sorry but what restaurant does not have mayo?!
Thirdly, our pizza's came out and although the toppings were "ok" the crusts were burnt and horrible. Fourthly, they apparently had a signature tea/iced-tea which they used to have as their speciality. Nup...they didn't have it. Fifthly, when clearing the table of empty drinks (which was a little late by my standards), the waiter reached over, tried to get another glass and dropped the 3 empty beer bottles on our table. Lastly, they didn't know how to print a receipt from my credit card.
Reading the previous entry it seems we are not the only people to have an ALL 1 RATING of Cherrijam. We have assumed that the place is under new management, and in saying that it is ruined. It was a shame to have wasted our Friday night having "dinner" there.
Stopped by for a coffee on Sunday morning, found a seat, perused the menu then spent the next 15 minutes trying to attract the attention of a waiter and watched in disbelief as 2 tables who arrived after us got served. Left vowing never to return, so my rating is for the only aspect of this restaurant that I experienced, the shocking service. Establishments such as this should realise that Sydney (and even Double Bay) is full of restaurants and cafes that treat their customers well and as customers we should always vote with our feet.
Love the food. Great coffee. Excellent location to be left alone on the evening. Great selection of wine and sparkling. I loved the decor by the background music wasn't my cup of tea.
Possibly the worst place I've ever eaten out. The meals were all cold and the service was pathetic. I hope people can learn from my mistakes of choosing this disgusting 'tapas' bar as a nice place to dine.
We ate at the cafe downstairs, good for a late afternoon snack. Tapa's menu was a good balance and selection of meals. Great place to sit and have a bottle of wine and watch the passing parade which was quiet ironic that they were playing INXS greatest hits for most of the afternoon..
Went last night. It was freezing outside and I was one of few girls in 'going out' jeans. Lots of girls in baby doll dresses! Excellent music. $8 for a vodka ranberry(I was hoping it would be $5 for a place not inside the CBD). Some good looking guys. However I was hoping for a broader selection of blond haired babes. Amazing atmosphere, lots of chandeliers and candles. Gorgeous.
