We used to be regulars years ago. Our favourite were stir fried crispy pork belly with chili and basil. However, things might had happened in the kitchen before we decided to quit the restaurant. The pork belly was unchewable, eggplants in chili and basil was so awfully dark green. I believed they had cooked them overnight and served them!! We had told them several times however it seem like our feedback was not get to the right person. Therefore we need to quit the restaurant for good.

I heard the ownership was changed hand recently. We decide to come back to give them a second chance. The menu is the same plus extra new dishes in separate pamphlet. Our stir fried crispy pork belly with chili and basil was the star of the night. The skin was really crispy and the meat was very tender! Stir fried eggplants with chili and basil also very good. It was not too mild too chili and eggplants were reasonably crisp.

The service were very impressed. Staffs were friendly and very attentive. The most important thing standing out is a complimentary photo of us with a paper frame. This will keep bringing us back the good memory everytime we check on the photo.

Overall, food and service has been improved enormously. If the new management read this, you have done a very good job here. Thank you New Chedi!

On entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted by the staff. We were shown to our seat and the service was prompt, friendly and efficient throughout the evening. The food was absolutely delicious. The salmon dish I ordered was perfectly cooked and served with a tasty, tangy sauce and we had a side order of brown rice. I would highly recommend Chedi Thai to anyone who enjoys Thai cuisine, it is the best I have had (including restaurants I have dined in in Thailand).

I am a regular at Chedi Thai and have recommended it to many friends and relatives - all of whom have had positive experiences and returned with others. Whether I am by myself or with a large group celebrating birthdays, the welcome, attention to detail and friendliness (without being obsequious-an art in itself!) never disappoint. While I usually walk to the restaurant, it is easy to 'ring on approach' to have access to free onsite parking. Favourite dishes for me and regular family members are: Miang Kum, Satay Tofu, choo chee prawns, chicken in green curry, barramundi and green mango salad and crispy pork w chilli and basil. The food is fresh, carefully and attractively presented, and mostly, promptly prepared (every restaurant has busy nights w kitchen dramas behind the scenes!). Staff and service are always exemplary.

Cheap and cheerful Thai food on the very crowded restaurant scene in Newtown but has a polished decor which sets it apart from the rest. Their service is quite efficient and we recieved our Barramundi Fillet with Green Mango Salad quickly, it was surprisingly tasty as it was crispy fried not steamed.

We ate at Chedi yesterday and I have to say we were very pleased with both the food and the service.

We've been to Thailand several times and the dishes at Chedi had a real Thai style and taste, some were better than we've had in Thailand. The staff were very attentive. We were given some background info about the dishes that we were eating. We'll be coming back for more soon and bringing a couple of friends.

Great place, we come often. Love the lighter fishcakes, love the green mango salad, love the chili fish, love the service, the wine. Ok. suffice to say, we take our friends there and eat there regularly.

Great Thai restaurant at hustle bustle Newtown. If You are looking for fine, great atmosphere and sumptuous Thai at inner city, this restaurant is highly recommended. Mango Salad, Pork Belly and Massaman Beef Curry are on my list must try.

After seeking 96% like on Urbanspoon, we were keen to try Chedi. This is where Eatability beats Urbanspoon, like/dislike is not enough to rate a restaurant. Duck salad was very nice. Pepper Corn Chicken also good! Fish cakes had egg added to make them lighter but not bad!
