Best chicken pad thai in Manly. Food can take ages to be served (30+mins on occasion) so be prepared to wander around. But cheap and damn tasty. I usually take my noodle box out past the outdoor bar infront of the Manly Wharf Hotel and sit down away from the hordes. If you a savvy local you will know you can ring ahead on your way over on the ferry after work, and have your food waiting for you on arrival.
Great thai great value. Always tastes good, no longer go as much because of how regularly we were eating takeaway here, 3+ times a week decided for a change.
Still eat here at least once a week. Love it. Laksa, pad thai, pad kimao all favourites but whole menu great! and at about $10 including a little entree, spring rolls etc, best value in Manly!
Love love love! food is yummy and probably the cheapest Thai I can find around (around 7.50 a meal every time, not just at lunch time prices) and the staff are nice. Never usually have to wait long for the food either. I went here every day when I worked at Max Brenners, and I miss it.
Fast service and fantastic, fresh food. I love being able to pick my five vegies and meat for a dish and see it cooked up on the spot. Exceptional value.
This place is good value. As for their location, well some of the best Thai food in Thailand is to be had on busy street corners and or even on the side of a highway, where a plastic chair on the side walk is a luxury. Chat Thai is take-away made "pure and simple". I'm just happy that this fresh place exists on the North Shore, and grateful for somewhere to sit while I greedily enjoy my meal. In my experience the service has been fast.
They get bonus points for having some authentic dishes such as the tasty boat noodle soup (a soup made with a blood stock, don't knock it till you tried it!). The food taste clean, flavorful and fresh which is really what I want from a quick and easy noodle fix. I was impressed with their deep fried calamari as it comes with a generous serve of tempura vegetables. Other tasty dishes were the Larb and simple but delicious Pad Thai with extra BBQ duck.
OK at best sums it up. Being located to the end of a major public transit terminus does not make for an intimate dining experience. This being the case, it wouldn't matter how good the food is (and at best the food is average Thai) I find it revolting to have the coughing, sneezing masses filing past whilst I'm trying to eat. To my mind, the utmost worst of outdoor dining. Tables are minimal and communal and full of English backpackers scraping the last few grains of rice from plates, not everyones' cup of tea.
Most of the time the food is good, but although mostly friendly, the service can be bad sometimes. I ordered two dishes at the same time, and one dish came 30 minutes after (45 minute wait), and I was dismissed by the one of the staff when I asked to its whereabouts.
I have been going to this place for nearly 2 years now. My mother is Thai and she is a great cook. So when she recommended this place, I had to check it out. 2 years later, I still travel all the way from Parramatta to Manly just for their special Thai Boat Noodle soup and other great authentic tasting dish. The value is great. I don't mind having to pay for parking as it's worth it.
Downside is the location. It gets too busy at the Wharf and sometimes you have to look out for free seats. I still go there nearly every weekend because the food is just great!!! I recommend it if you ever decide to go to Manly Wharf.
This place is over-rated in my opinion. One of my friends eats there 3 or 4 times a week and I just don't get it. It wins on convenience and price but it is basically a take away with a few benches in the Wharf. Food is OK, nothing vaguely memorable even comparing to other $10 Thai places.
