This pub has seriously gone downhill since they took away karaoke, and the live music on a Wednesday. The staff are rude and unhelpful, and they have no interest in understanding what the members want.

They have beer and tab facilities. Their poker machine area (whether you play them or not) is atrocious... Lookes like a beach changing room. No the best of the two pubs in Charing Cross, but handy if you need to put a bet on or need a drink early.

Great local pub for a few drinks, not a destination bar for a big night out if you are under 35. Also want to respond to another reviewer who said this is a straight bar. This is not the case. There are a lot of gays who hang out at this bar. No problem. Adds to the atmosphere. In fact there is a group of gay builders who come in every Friday and are a hoot. Met one of these guys Michael John and he invited a bunch of us young guys to his place just up Carrington Road to continue the party into the wee hours. I like the Cross.

The Char is the greatest pub of them all. I get very drunk there, the ambience is magnificent. Jay is a legend.

The Charing Cross Hotel has been my local (preferred local) pub for more than 8 months now and after sampling the drink, and atmosphere, in all the pubs in Bronte, Bondi, Bondi Junction and Waverley, I feel it's about time I put ink to paper to state that it is my favourite pub in the area. That is a bold statement.

Very friendly bar staff, always welcomed with a smile and a bit of banter and they know who you are after your 3rd visit. Various flat screen tv's to watch sports on. No matter where you sit in the pub you can see at least one screen. A free pub quiz with a gem of a quiz lady and on-the-spot drinks prizes and $50 bar tab for the winners. A big TAB for all your "Greyhorse" betting needs, cheap wide selction of beers, spirits and shots. Friendly locals and tourists alike mingling together with no ugly behaviour or fighting. A range of ages from 18-80 all taking in the atmosphere and the reason we go to the pub...to drink and enjoy ourselves.

The Charing Cross Hotel does exactly what it says on the tin...and then some!

Great pub. A straight blokes pub, good to enjoy a beer, have a bet and watch sports. What more could you want. It's better than that sausage fest (the robbin hood) across the road. They never show any sports. Music is disappointing and your paying top dollar for the worst beer i've tasted in Sydney.

I think Nickoc (below) is confusing this pub with the Robin Hood across the road. The Charing Cross is great for viewing sport and that's about all. The food is more than ordinary, it's awful, especially the canned vegetables that accompany the $10 steak that's not even half as good as the $5 version you get at the Hood.

Comfy couches? Under 35s? Which pub were you in? There are no comfy couches, the only under 35s are the bar staff, and the ambience is courtesy of the TAB that dominates the whole pub. And I know, I work there! If you're an old bloke who likes drinking with other old blokes, and into your TAB then this is a great place for you.

Great place to meet and talk to young people (under 35s), with great food deals, a big screen and some comfy couches. I have to travel a bit to get there, but it is worth it.
