We enjoyed the stuffed Pappadum with prawns. Although they were the mini prawns, I am not keen on them. The dish was super tasty and different. We also had the peri peri chicken wings. Not fav of mine but the sauce was great. I think it's my personal taste who does not like chicken wings. My hubby liked them.
Service was good and no issues. Chef came out for a chat with all guests. Not busy either but I was hoping it was going to be another walkable byo local place to go.
Mains, we decided to go with the fav Cafreal Chicken and get something a little lighter and have spinach/potatoes. They were ok. The chicken was tasty which made it cause it was with carrots and vegies/salad a little homie for me, meaning I could done the vegies at home. As I said tasty chicken, Spinach/potato a little boring but good just needed something to it.
Will I be back. Yes as I am intrigued by the dishes and want to see more of what they have to offer. Maybe we are on to a good thing. Judgement reserved but has some tasty qualities. We need to try more dishes and I love byo. Stay tuned.
Casa De Goa is tranquil Goan restaurant situated in Dulwich Hill which has lip smacking Goan food. We started with a carafe of Sangria. For starter we had Papadums filled with prawns, the pork spicy sausage, and Fried Eggplant. The Ambotik had the perfect combination of spicy and savor, Beef Rolls which was tender and had a nice wine flavor.
The layer cake called bibinca was magnificent and crème caramel was good too. The food portions were enormous and the service was great. The owner Chef Pio is very gracious and pleasant and his wife Blanche too, they both make a fantastic team. We highly recommend this restaurant.
My family and friends went to Casa De Goa for dinner. It was a cold day and we were happy to their offers of complimentary chicken broth sewed with cheese and olive. The clear chicken broth really warmed us up.
For Entree, we ordered Octopus, Peri Peri King Prawn stuffed Pappadum and fried Eggplant which were really different and we throughly enjoyed the dinner. For the mains, we ordered Chicken Cafreal, Chicken curry, mixed seafood Xec Xec, Recheado fish, Lamb cutlets and Spanish Potatoes and lentils.
They were very courteous and instead of being very busy they happily accommodated our special request for our children. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we really enjoyed the food and service.
When I walked in something seemed strange it was empty for a Saturday night. The service was good, but I was disappointed with the food. It was tasteless and seemed all pre made, didn’t understand the clear soup with the olive and cheese served in a coffee cup. It was the worst chicken curry I had ever eaten, it looked as bad as it taste. The rice was ok.
I won’t be going back there again; the funny thing was I thought it was going to be Portuguese food. It was more Indian they must know that there food is not that great they kept asking if we liked the food, and wait for it they even tried to get me to take it home, I refused the doggie bag. I just wanted to get out of there. It was not to my standard.
I went to Casa de Goa with a group of ten friends and we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great. We had the pork sausage, chicken rissoles and stuffed pappadums for entrees. All were fabulous. The stuffed pappadums were unique but beautiful, I would definitely recommend them.
For mains we had lamb cutlets, the chicken xacuti, lamb curry and the pork sorpatel along with yellow rice. Again all the food was brilliant and the servings were huge. The bebinca was a tantalizing taste, it is a layered cake which we had for dessert. The chef describes it as “it’s not a cake, it’s not a pudding it’s just delicious!" which it indeed was. Very difficult to describe but it was absolutely divine.
I highly recommend this restaurant, it was a great place to eat, brilliant value for money and I will definitely go again.
The place still looks like a Dutch restaurant that it originally was. The chairs are also ugly and there was no paper in the toilets to wipe hands. The service was quite good though. I think leave the bizarre complimentary chicken soup out, it looks like dirty dish washing water with an olive and piece of cheese in it.
The lamb and stuffed pappadums were nice. Yellow rice was not though. Also a lot of entrees came out that we think we didn't order. The kids had the lamb cutlets which they said were terrible. They left a lot of them. It wasn't a disaster but the atmosphere and the food was a bit disappointing.
We all tried to guess how much it would be and it was another $200 more. We will never go back but we have tried it and will eat out elsewhere next time.
We ate at Casa De Goa on Saturday as a bit of a treat to ourselves. Never having eaten here before we picked the restaurant on the great reviews and also the interesting menu. We weren't disappointed. When we arrived we were the only one in the restaurant, but we were greeted nicely, given menus and free chicken soup and left alone to look at the menu.
We had the fried oysters and stuffed pappadums, which were both fantastic. For main I had the chorizo casserole and my husband had the chicken. We also ordered some rice. My casserole was enormous and filling and fresh. Probably did not need to order the rice, but the rice was so good and huge as well for $3. My husband's chicken was very nice and came with a large plate of vegetables and salad. The marinade was spicy and again the ingredients were fresh.
Service is a little unpolished, but very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.
I had my 50th Birthday for 35 people at Casa De Goa on 24th May and it was fantastic. The room upstairs was thoughtfully prepared. Everybody was very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we all had a good time. I danced with both Caesar (waltz) and his wife Blanche (jive) so they were very personable. All of my guests said the food was great and thought the venue was excellent. I actually made all the arrangements from London where I am living and Caesar made that easy. As well he had guaranteed me a good night and he was correct. I would not hesitate to have another function there.
I came here with a rather large group and we loved it! The service was friendly and the food was delicious (as was the Sangria!!!). We all walked away satisfied and am sure that many of us will return to try more of the delights on offer! I highly recommend the Stuffed Pappadums, so tasty!
