Came here with my girlfriend on Sat night and they were very busy. We came with a spreets voucher which we paid only $29 for both of us! I ordered the spaghetti marinara and was impressed with the portion. It was a very healthy size and the seafood tasted fresh!
My girlfriend wanted to try their pizza and once again, was very nice! They use a thin and crispy base with a generous amount of toppings, yum! Overall, that fact that we only paid $29, we were very satisfied with the food and the service and we will come back again to try some of their other food!

Very average Italian pizzas with dry pizza bases and poor quality toppings. The glass of house wine that was included with our Spreets voucher deal was not more than 90ml of cheap table wine served in a miniature wine glass. Nevertheless, the service staff was friendly and caring.

Service was not great, could have been due to the fact that we were using a voucher. Supreme pizza was nice, marinara was ok. We purchased the Spreets offer of 2 mains and two desserts from the menu for $29. We were told that we could not order the tiramisu or the pear cake, so we opted for the gelato. You do not get two scoops as advertised on their dessert menu, you only get one.

I love this place. I live just around the corner and ventured here one night- since then I don't bother with Norton Street for Italian.
I have been there many times, with and without vouchers and the service as well as quality of food is still exceptional.
My being a pasta fiend my favourite dishes are the Spaghetti Bolognese and the Linguine Boscaiola, portion size in relation to price I find to be good value. Not to mention the taste!
I went with my mother last night and ordered the Bolognese while she ordered the Supreme Pizza. The pizza crust was a bit burnt so the manager organised a whole fresh pizza to be made for us to take home, while my mum and I would never ask for this the manager Insisted. How is that for customer service.
The waitressess are always friendly and genuine, and while the interior is nothing special I really enjoy every meal I've had here. Definitely a favourite.

I bought a Spreets voucher for Casa Messina for my boyfriend and I - $49 for 3 courses for two. We ate there last Friday and had a lovely time.
Upon arrival, the waiters and waitresses greeted us with a smile and even though the waitress couldn't find our booking (I think she recorded my name down in the book wrong), the main waiter approached us promptly and gave us a table straight away.
For entrees, I got the Salt and Pepper Calamari whilst my boyfriend ordered the Zuppa di Cozze (Mussels). The calamari was average but the mussels were delicious! It was something different for both of us and was surprisingly tasty (I'm not a big fan of seafood).
For the mains, I got the Pollo Boscaiola while he got the Crab and Squid Linguine. Both were tasty, delicious and quite filling! I was quite happy with the serving sizes, especially for his linguine. We both finished our dishes quite quickly and the waiters were extremely lovely and came around to our table every 5 or 10 minutes to check up on our meals. This was really pleasing as the restaurant, being a Friday night, was quite full and there were busy waiters delivering plates of food everywhere.
The gelato was a lovely dessert (vanilla tasted like REAL vanilla!), but, being the dessert hog that I am, I ordered an extra Creme Brulee. We shared it and it was great. A little too soft for my taste, but that's just me.
We also ordered the Calzone Messina since we were still a bit peckish - probably a bad idea as it was so filling! Was a scrumptious dish, but didn't sit that well after our entree and main, unfortunately. Mistake on our part! A delicious mistake, nevertheless.
Overall, I loved the restaurant. Everything about it felt authentic, down to the red and white plaid tablecloths! Service was super fantastic and food was extremely pleasing. Can't really say much about the price since most of it was covered by the voucher. Highly recommended!

Got the spreets deal for the 3 course. While the calamari wasn't great, the mussels soup and the pizza with anchovies and prawns were awesome! Also, the pollo boscaiola had a beautifully creamy sauce. Not sure what the regular prices but for the spreets deal @ $49 for two, it was a ripper deal.

I went to Casa Messina for a get together with a group of friends on a busy Saturday night. When we arrived the place was very busy but our table was already set up close to the window and the Italian music was very nice. My friends and I had some shared entrees, we have a pizza bruschetta which was lovely, the antipasto was really fresh and the side salads were fresh and crispy.
For main I had the barramundi with lemon and white wine sauce which was absolutely delicious, the sauce was spot on and the flavour of the lemon and the wine was fantastic. My friends had a linguini boscaiola which I tried and the pasta was al dente, the sauce was lovely, not too thick and the taste was not too creamy which was nice. I also tried a slice of Casa Messina pizza which was crisp it had just the right amount of ingredients and the dough tasted fresh without leave me with a bloated feeling.
Despite the restaurant was very full, the waitresses assisted all my requests promptly, always with a smile which is nice to see when I go out to spend money in restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant as the food is delicious, the portions are generous but not over priced as other restaurant around in Leichhardt.

Went there last minute with a Spreets Voucher for an "Italian Feast for 2", and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was very tasty. Both of us ordered the Pollo Boscaiola, sometimes when I've ordered this in other restaurants the sauce can be quite tasteless and overly creamy, here I was very happy with their sauces, wasn't overly thick and the seasoning was spot on.
At $50 for 2 of us (including a glass of wine and gelato each) it was very good value for money. Even if he hadn't had the vouchers for the discount, we wouldn't have not have had an issue with paying full price at another time. Would go back again. The English waitress we had was very polite and personable as well as the other staff cooking in the kitchen.

First impression when arriving at the restaurant was pretty, bright and friendly. As we had booked very close to the minute, we were lucky enough to get a table at the back of the restaurant close to the kitchens.
Lighting at the back was very dim despite very pretty wallpaper remniscent of the Italy countryside. Needless to say, none of us were too enthusiastic about eating in shadows. A candle on the table was also not lighted during our dining. Plus the room is shaped so that in a busy room, it does get hard to hear each other.
I had the Alla Norma with spaghetti, the sauce was light, sweet and not drenched in olive oil. A good sign the alla norma was made spot on. The eggplant was cooked through and soft. A lovely blend of herbs and tomato, it slipped happily into my stomach. The spaghetti was also boiled to al dente and had a great firm texture. My friend's gnocchi was soft, although I'm not too sure if it was, perhaps, left too long to boil. The creamy sauce went smoothly with the cheese. It was however, very rich.
Another friend's risotto had soft, pillowy rice. It came out piping hot and wasn't overly salty or creamy. Neither herbs or mushrooms overpowered the other which was great. The linguine calabrese was tangy, garlicky and like the spaghetti, expertly tossed in olive oil. The sauce could exclude the garlic if asked which I thought was wonderful service. As two friends ordered the same dish, one with and one without garlic, both dishes tasted quite similar although I did feel that the garlic added extra depth to the flavour.
We had one main, the Pollo Alla Pizzaiola. The vegetables were crisp and the chicken most definitely not overcooked. It was tender, moist and absolutely well done with a great napoletana sauce to complement. All the dishes came out around about the same time, hot and steaming. Only the main took some time. But it was much appreciated when a waitress kindly inquired as to what dish left we were waiting for.
None of us had dessert partly because we all felt stuffed and as just blooming university students, felt the menu was way outside of our budget. But the next time I come, I'd definitely try one if I remember not to get too ahead of myself and fit as much food as I can into my limited stomach sac.
Be warned, the servings are highly generous. Service was polite and attentive. We had a charming waiter by the end which we all found very humourous and left us all with a favourable impression of the place. I'm pretty sure Casa Messina has made itself a comfortable spot in all our memories. Definitely a place I would come back again in the future.
