This place was recommended to us by friends and we are so pleased they did! Best pizza ever! It is tucked away at the end of Darling Street with beautiful sandstone walls and nice lighting. Only comment on ambience is it would be good to have just a little bit more room, but that is fault finding!

The pizza here is amazing, many of the ingredients are imported from Italy, the quality is amazing! We have bought take away pizza many a time and have eaten in once which was fantastic! I'm usually very picky with seafood but I ordered the fish special and had what was possibly the best seafood experience ever. It couldn't have been fresher, the flavours were fantastic and I just wish I could have finished it all!

Our meal last night at Cappello Pizzeria was outstanding. We were a party of 4, and started with a shared lemon/anchovy pizza which was delicious. Two of our party had the steak special which was served to perfection, exactly as requested, one had gnocchi and I had the pappardelle with veal ragu -- all the mains were superb. We had brought our own wine; corkage was $2.50 per person which we thought was reasonable. The service was excellent, and the only reason I gave less that a 10 on ambiance was that there was a table next to ours with several very noisy children. Things definitely quietened down after they left! Wish we had had room for dessert but that will have to wait until next time, and there will definitely be a next time!

The garlic prawns, signature Cappello pizza and 4 cheese pizza were stand out dishes.
Very reasonably priced, have and will go again. Only thing negative thing I could say would be since they offer Delivery/Takeaway there was a constant stream of people coming in to pick up their orders who had to walk through the small restaurant. Not a big negative but a bit off putting for such a nice restaurant with a classy setting.

I'd heard some positive comments about this little restaurant from work colleagues and we weren't disappointed! We were seated in the cosy downstairs area which had a lovely ambience (upstairs seemed great for groups but wouldn't be as good for an intimate dinner).

Service was great, friendly but not in your face and the timing of the meals was spot on. The food was wonderful, nice thin pizza bases with rustic toppings and our dessert special of chocolate mousse was divine. We could easily become regulars.

I am originally from Napoli (the birthplace of pizza) and hence, consider myself a good judge of a quality pizza. I can confidently say that the pizzas at Cappello are tremendous. I have been there on many occasions since first discovering the pizzeria several months ago and, on each occasion, I have not been disappointed. The quality of the pizza is consistently outstanding. Apart from the pizza making expertise, having the right oven and using only quality products is what makes a terrific pizza. I would highly recommend the 'bufalina' and my wife's pick is the 'farfalina'. Enjoy!

Following a glowing review by SMH, Tuesday night I decided to head to Cappello.
The place is towards the end of Darling Street (easy to park during a weekday), you have to look out for it as it looks like a tiny boutique and has the same elegance. Borsalino hats on the wall, simple and clean white table cloths, essential yet warm furniture, luminous lighting, and last but not least, a wood-fire oven.

We were welcomed by two waiters, service was impeccable, we had a bottle of sparkling wine and wine glasses were promptly replaced by flutes, cutlery wer replaced after each course, everything was timed well. We went for garlic prawns and calamari as entrees, and a pizza each. We were starving because we all saved our stomach for this new pizza experience.

Servings are not massive, but if you plan to have a pizza and you are not a very big eater they are just right. I loved my Primavera with prosciutto, rocket and parmesan. It was just thick enough, right on mozzarella and tomato, and the topping was fresh and balanced, to die for.

Couldn’t go for the dessert, too stuffed, so we just got a coffee which was good. There’s nothing worse than going for a nice Italian dinner and ending it with a coffee that tastes like strychnine. I had a little chat with the staff, the guys are a delight, and the owner who is also the artist behind this amazing pizza.

I also found out that there is a second floor to Cappello, which I suppose they easily fill up during weekends seeing the nice buzz they have on a Tuesday night. This a little gem in Balmain. It’s a cozy tiny sophisticated restaurant with good food and beautiful service to be shared with the right friends!

My partner and I have been here a number of times and love it! Cappello has a great warm feeling, with a friendly atmosphere inside. The pizza is full of flavour, very fresh with a crisp base and varied gourmet toppings/combinations.
Most of all, the prices were all very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I had heard great reviews on this restaurant and was not disappointed! We went there for my birthday with a group of friends and the staff were great at recommending what to order and looking after us. The decor is really lovely and it is great value for money. I will most definitley go back! Many thanks to Cappello for an enjoyable evening.
