Overview
Welcome to Cantina, our cuisine is Mediterranean tapas – a truly wonderful mix of both hot and cold Spanish, Portuguese, Greek and Moroccan dishes all very sensibly priced. We are fully licensed with an extensive range of local and imported wines, beer, spirits and cocktails. And yes, we definitely serve sangria! Combining exceptional food, an impressive drinks list and a very classy upstairs bar and outdoor area, Cantina has everything you need for a great dinner date, fun night out with friends or special occasion function.
Finally a spanish restaurant that has scrumptious and delicious spanish food! Shared the dip plate, chili tiger prawns and grilled spanish chorizo among 3 people and for dessert had creme catalana. Was reasonably full by the end of the meal. Only issue was the service, I could tell that the 2 waiters were very overworked and exhausted for a quiet Sunday evening.
We got no cheerful disposition out of them, even when we gave them a generous tip, kind of off putting. I'd hate to think how they are on a Friday or Saturday night.
Good value. We ate here last night and after ordering 4 tapas dishes we realised we had overordered for two people. I was surprised at the quantity (lunch today!). We had only eaten here previously with a large group hence we didn't really notice the size of the dishes.
We had the chickpea, spinach and fennel salad which we loved (huge and very spicy), and caramelised chorizo from the main menu. From the specials board was figs wrapped in ham with rocket and parmesan dribbled with balsamic reduction, heaven. Plus asparagus with pine nuts, a type of spicy sausage and a parmesan sauce, absolutly delicious.
The service was friendly and casual. Sangria was average to ok.
Nice and intimate for a romantic date. I'd recommend their grilled haloumi, spanish chorizo and of course, the sangria. However, my partner and I were shocked when the dish we were digging into, which we assumed was the beef we ordered, was snatched from us by a nearby waitress. She said she'd given us the wrong dish and passed the half-eaten one to the table next to us. Bit too surprised to say anything and watched as the neighbouring couple dug into it.
Found it very hard to get service. It wasn't busy when for a fair portion of the time we were there. The staff were more interested in talking to each other. Food was very good. Coffee was very disappointing. Weak and lacked flavour. Probably won't go back again.
This is local delight that never disappoints! The food is always delicious, haloumi, chicken skewers, chickpea salad, calamari, I can't even pick my favourite. It's reasonably priced and so is the wine!
We always get the Sangria when were in a big group and it goes down a treat. The staff are great and the manager always goes out of her way to look after us when we dine. I'll be back again next week!
One of our local favourites. You must try the air dried wagyu beef, which is probably our favourite dish. Great value for the price, and Catherine is the perfect host.
The food was incredible. I highly recommend the baby spinach salad and calamari! Great good. Going back for sure!!! Men may not like salads, but this will change their minds quick smart.
I recently dined at Cantina's from the $35 set menu with a large group seated upstairs. Fairly quick and efficient service, nice atmosphere, reasonable food (some really nice, some pretty average), although it seemed that there wasn't much meat to be seen.
The red wine selection was good, with some very good drops but The Sangria Was Terrible, it was made with SPRITE and it showed. Avoid it. It's weak, and fairly tasteless. The dusted calamari was a big highlight, no other major standouts but the next best dishes were the grilled spanish chorizo and the patatas bravas..then the average stuff. The chickpea salad and baby spinach salad were a bit weak (flavour wise), the pan fried mushrooms came in a 2 cm deep pool of oil, the lamb and pork meatballs were mediocre at best with an aftertaste of dirt.
This is a regular favourite amongst all my friends and never ever disappoints, service is always great regardless of how busy they are, food is always fantastic, esp the dusted calamari and chicken skewers, leave your previous disappointments with Tapas at the door!
The food was fantastic here. Generous serving sizes too! Gets a little noisy but other than that one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've been to.
