One of the sweetest little cafe's I've ever encountered. Feels more like stepping into a friend's lounge room, it's so laid back and friendly. Wholesome food and great value for money, loved it!
A true gem, hidden away from the usual Manly hell is this great little cafe with lovely staff and cracking decor. My only tip for a relaxing coffee in the cafe dessert od Mantown!
Love Candy's especially in winter with the soup of the day and yummiest bread roll all for $6.50. The meal sizes are generous. The service is amazing too. The owners are lovely and always happy. Candy's is a great community hub.
Went in for lunch but decided to eat the big breakfast. Absolutely smashing. Very hearty meal with generous servings. Had the spicy tomato soup as well. A tad bland but after adding some salt myself, it was smashing as well. Very warm and nice atmosphere. Multiple boardgames and books to keep you entertained. A really nice warm place. Will definitely go back for the food and atmosphere again!
The coffee wasn't the best I've had, and to be honest, was far from it! (You have to be cruel to be kind). However, I recollect one of Hemingway's greater passions was for a particular Parisian cafe, who's coffee also kept the crowds away (much to his delight) but fuelled his fabulous imagination, and so I wonder if there isn't something of his spirit at work here.
From my eavesdropped observations, it is very much a 'writer's cafe', so bring along your pad and pen, and /or a good book (or just grab one off the shelf), and you're sure to meet a kindred spirit enjoying themselves within its moody darkness. A Bohemian's hideaway. I’d suggest a nice pot of tea is probably the ticket, as well as being a wonderful excuse to extend your enjoyment of its many charms.
The food is pretty ordinary, but still good, hearty food. It's excellent value, the service is fantastic and its a beautiful dark little cafe with lots of regulars. I recommend you check out the soup of the day.
