The team at Cala Luna welcomes you to try what we believe is some of the best Italian food in Sydney with a fantastic view.
http://www.calaluna.net.au/calaluna/
Cala Luna is one of the few restaurants in Sydney where food on the menu is sourced from the owner's farm in Bowral, in the Southern Highlands.
Our head chef has 15 years of Italian culinary experience and is constantly working to improve and maintain items on the menu.
We are open from Tuesday through to Sunday for lunch and dinner, 12pm and 6pm respectively.
Cala Luna is a family orientated, fine dining Italian restaurant with fantastic water views where the staff love being able to serve every guest as if they were in their own family home.
We invite you to dine with us at Cala Luna to experience some of the finest views and Italian food Sydney has to offer.

We had the eatability deal when we had our meal so got 3 courses for just $49 which is incredible value. The staff were very friendly and attentive which added to the overall experience. They gave us extra bread (no extra charge) with an awesome balsamic/olive oil side.
The food itself was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, our courses. They came out together which is always a plus and there was a good amount of time between courses. The ambience and atmosphere were good, the lights are a little dim in the side area, but it added to the romantic feel and we did not have the issue that other reviewers had mentioned of not being able to read the menu as was too dark.
You can't beat this deal for value for money and I highly recommend this place, we shall definitely be eating there again and will be taking friends. The lemoncello shots to finish were superb!
Response from Management:
Thanks for taking your time to post a review, its really appreciated.
Value for Money that is it! We are offering the best quality available from our farm and select suppliers at a reasonable price and i am so glad that you enjoyed it. Our olive oil crushed in the southern highlands and estate grown on our own farm is a great way begin with bread from Haberfield.
I am pleased that all of dishes had good flavour and that timing was right for you, thanks for your kind words. The lighting (a feature a much discussion) has been drastically lifted to accommodate all of the recent requests, so thanks to all of those people for letting us know.
Thanks again for recommending us it is appreciated and we will keep the lemoncello flowing for your next visit!!

Dined here last night for a first date and was very impressed. The head waiter 'Ray' made it very personal from the very start and definitely played a major part in the overall satisfaction of the dinner.
Food was to the standard that the prices reflect and the portions were very generous. I couldn't fit in dessert which hurt me because they looked divine. Ray served us complimentary shots of 'Limonte'..? after the meal which was a great cap to the end of the meal. He also selected a great bottle of white to compliment the 'Snapper' - fish of the day, which was v. fresh.
The location is great but they have capitalised on the view and that would be my only qualm in an otherwise very enjoyable night. Will definitely return.
Response from Management:
Thanks for taking your time to post a review on our restaurant. Your time and comments are greatly appreciated.
I am glad that you where impressed by my little restaurant.
As i have always said the restaurant is nothing without the great staff that we have from the kitchen to Front of house. Our house made lemoncello is a treat that i glad you did enjoy. The snapper barra or Dory we do get in fresh every day to ensure like all of our ingredients are enjoyed in their prime.
The View or limited view is always an interesting point at Cala Luna as we don't sit right on the waterfront we try to focus more on the service food and cosy ambiance!
I am glad that you enjoyed your experience and we can't wait to see you back again.

Popped in on a Sat night with husband and 11 year old son. Sat in the side with plastic walls-which is fine, but it was so dark you couldn't read the menu or see what you were eating. Very expensive at $137 for 3x main, 1 coke and 2 glasses of wine. The food was 'ok' but ok isn't great, quite forgettable, which was a shame.
Response from Management:
Thanks for taking the time to post a review.
I am disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience at Cala Luna on Saturday night. We have since your review lifted the lighting as that has been a major point of feedback. Our most expensive main on our menu is $36 for the suckling pig so i am shocked the bill could have got that high? Maybe a mistake was made? If you can send through your bill on our email calalunamosman@gmail.com i would be more that happy to review it. We do however work on being a memorable restaurant not one that can be easily forgotten, so we will have to really work on these point that you have mentioned. Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback it helps us make a better restaurant for our patrons.

This is one of those rare gems of a restaurant where the owner really cares about every dish, as evident by his comments on this site. A group of us who lunched here on a Sunday initially were disappointed to find it's a more limited menu at lunchtime. I'd been craving the melt-in-your-mouth `home grown' lamb, and a friend wanted the suckling pig.
But we needn't have worried. We went for the Eatability special and felt guilty afterwards, it was such incredible value for wonderful food. My fillet was one of the best I've ever eaten, beautifully rare as requested, and others loved their veal, fish, pasta and broad beans, calamari etc. Plenty of specials to tempt, too. When Michel overheard we were celebrating a friend's birthday, her dessert arrived with a sparkler, a chorus of happy birthday, and delicious mandarin liqueurs for all. We all can't wait to go back.
Response from Management:
Thank you Mrs. Bunter.
You will be pleased to know that we have extended our lunch menu only this week. Offering more produce from our farm as well as more items in general all at really good value prices.
It's the little touches in the food and the service that make all the difference i believe. That smile and good evening as you enter the door that quick service for your 1st drink and that awareness of what is going on at the table (your friends birthday) that will make all the difference in the dining experience. I am so glad that you enjoyed it!

I've dined here twice now and have had two very different experiences. *The first time was mid-week and we had probably the greatest dining experience my partner and I have ever had. We dined with a close friend of ours and we all left in total awe. The service was great. The food, Wow.
Every course was fantastic (loved the suckling pig) and my partner nearly died of pleasure when she had the crispy spiced quail entree. Crispy skin, yet moist on the inside. The wines were all great and the Lemonchello was leathally delicious.
*However the second time was very disappointing. We were expecting a great evening (knowing nothing could have topped our first visit) but were left feeling disappointed.
It was a busy saturday night and although we booked for 3, the waiter insisted we only booked for 2 and were given the table right near the door. Everyone brushed past us, including the waiter going outside every 5 minutes to get something from out side. It was a cold night and the wind was bitting and ruined our experience, as I had to get up several times myself to "properly" close the door the waiter left ajar.
The suckling pig was not available (delivery issue) and the quail my partner loved was now a very dry main (Quail a main course?) with tasteless unseasoned polenta with it. Plus every main came with a serve of these tasteless red beans.
We are now booked in for dinner this week and are praying that this won't be our last visit.
Response from Management:
Thanks for taking the time for not only posting 1 review but 2.
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your 1st experience but disappointed that you did not enjoy your second experience as much. Our client base is built on regulars that come back again again for our consistency and passion for what we do.
The restaurant has a small dining room and a large entry door so there at times will always be a draft in some parts of the dining room and i can only apologize for this but take little action ( as this is the dimensions of the restaurant). We are always looking at ways to improve. The suckling pig is our most popular dish and does run out on many occassions as we do roast it fresh daily, we can take pre bookings and set portions aside upon request. The quail that we are getting from our farm we are serving as main course because of their large size and feedback that we have been given but thanks for letting us know that it would better suit an entree.
I am also praying that you did enjoy your last visit! Please let me know your feedback on calalunamosman@gmail.com
Thanks again for taking the time to post this review.

We went mid week for dinner and had the eatability special $49 for 3 courses. The food was superb, and the menu extensive. We took our own wine which was a bonus. The room was dimly lit, but rather from detracting from the ambience, we thought it added to the mood. Even though the tables are close together, we never felt intruded upon by the next table. The waiter/manager was courteous, efficient and the food fresh and well presented.
Response from Management:
Thanks for taking the time to post a review its appreciated that you took the time and effort to give us some useful feedback.
The $49 is great value and even though we often think that we should lift the price we want everyone to come and enjoy our great food with great value. The lighting is an issue that has sparked so much focus on both sides. We have lifted the lighting around 25% to keep the mood and listen to our customers feedback. We have also lifted the font size of our menus to make the menus easier to read?? Hope this is helping, we want the best dining experience for our clients.
The service is one of our strong many strong points thanks to great staff that really love their jobs, its a credit to them. Thanks again for your feedback.

My partner and I dined here for the first time last Saturday, and the food was excellent, that is, it tasted excellent. I can’t tell you what it looked like, the room was far too dark for me to be able to see my food properly. I think that when waiters start having to hand out torches to every table so the patrons can read the menu, management should get the hint that it’s too dark! "We eat with our eyes..." as the saying goes, but our eyes were not given an opportunity to feast, more's the pity, as the food really did taste good.
Plus, there were far too many tables packed into a small space, so that every time the waiter tried to place a dish onto, or clear one away from, the table behind me, I either made intimate contact with his backside, or had to lean to my left at perilous angle. And talk about noisy! I couldn't hear the waitress describing the dessert specials, and had to ask her to repeat herself.
Overall, although the food was good, and so was the service, it wasn't so good that I would put up with the noise, the crowded room and the darkness again for its sake.
Response from Management:
Hi and thanks for taking the time to post a review and give us your feedback.
Since reading this we have lifted the lights slightly, we put so much effort into our food taste and presentation and we want you to enjoy all aspects. We also want all dinners to have a pleasurable dining experience so thanks for letting us know your thoughts there it's appreciated. The dining room is tight/small and on a Saturday night it does get busy and i am sorry if your experience was not enjoyable because of this. I will work on this...Thanks for your feedback in helping us create a better dining experience for all patrons.

After reading on this site about the 10 courses special offer with wine for $99 per person we rushed straight to this restaurant! We may have rushed in but we didn't rush out. We were so full of delicious food and wine we could barely move! What a great night! I had high hopes, and not one aspect of this dinner was disappointing.
The size of each course was bigger than I expected and by about the 7th course, my husband and I began to laugh hysterically when another dish would appear because this offer is such ridiculously good value. The wines were all enjoyable, I wish I could remember what they were. We are looking forward to returning for a leisurely Sunday lunch in the near future.

Hi Ruby Sue thanks for taking the time to put up a review on Eatability. Great value for exceptional quality is what we provide and the tasting menu is a real example of that. I am so glad that you enjoyed it so much and thanks again for posting a review can't wait to look after you for our next month's dego.

I'm hard pressed to think of a better dining experience. Wonderful from start to end. Went here a few months ago for anniversary dinner, taking up the 3 course $49 special. Was not expecting anything brilliant for this price, but brilliance is what we got! Every dish was superb, with such a wide range of flavours and textures. The decadence of the quail and the duck ravioli entrees set the benchmark which stayed high throughout the whole evening. I also liked how we could bring our own bottles of wine with minimal corkage charge.
Very friendly, helpful and fun staff made it a perfect evening we will definitely be back. Esp keen to dry the degustation menu in the near future. Thank you Michel for bringing your passion to your work.
Response from Management:
Wow What i can say but thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to post a review!
We continually try and set a high standard and we are glad that you enjoyed it. I do bring my passion of my family from the paddock to the plat and i am so glad that you enjoyed your cala luna experience. Can't wait to see you on Sunday lunch.
