Since moving from their established location at the Spit to a few doors up at the old Shores restaurant in the Middle Harbour Yacht Club, this restaurant has improved even further. The food is good, and they still allow BYO.
Service is generally good, and the harbourside location makes this a great place to watch the passing activity on the water. Worth a visit.

We used Travelzoo voucher for our lunch on the 24th December, so very much "value for money". Foods were not "sophisticated", but they tasted OK. Nice location.
Too bad, parking is so ridiculously expensive ($12 for 2 hour parking).

I did not like this place, I found the food expensive and the staff were not very accommodating.

I found Cala Luna an absolute delight. With this place omitted from the book, I'm really starting to lose faith in the Good Food Guide. We had the 4 course set menu with matching wines, and the food was amazing. The standouts were the fresh pasta dishes (lamb ragu and balmain bug). I love the idea of using their own farm produce, and the food reflects the freshness and quality of these ingredients. We're already looking forward to returning.
Update: Returned here (the new location upstairs at the yacht club) for Lunch on Sunday, and if anything, the whole package is even better now with the addition of water/boat views, and a nice open air balcony (warranting an increased Ambience score of 8). Again the pasta (blue swimmer crab) and gnocchi (rabbit ragu) were perfect. Champagne jelly for dessert was a little weird though!

I preface this review by saying it relates to a voucher purchased for 4 courses with matching wines at $90 for two people. It does not relate to the usual menu or prices.
Starter was a antipasto plate of cheese, calamari, prosciutto, and salami. 9/10. Magnifico. Entree was a pasta (Spaghettini it was said but more like a vermicilli) with spanner crab and balmain bug. 10/10. Perfecto.
Main was Rabbit on steamed spinach. 4/10. Overcooked and rubbery/hard. You can't overcook rabbit and get away with it. Unfortunate, however, the waiter was prepared to get another one, but we declined as we accept their cost constraints.
Dessert was a panna cotta with vanilla bean. Very good. 8/10. Matching wines were very good and generally of a moderate-high quality.
This place has moved to the upstairs area of the Middle Harbour Yacht Club. Great views, superb location and a very good restaurant. I'd suggest it is or just about is one chef hat quality. 7/10 for food was only due to a disappointing main, but I noticed others did not suffer this fate. Except for this, would have given the food 9/10.
I hope they have similar offerings in future.

We celebrated a family birthday at Cala Luna last night. We had loved the food on a previous visit, and this time used a voucher and had a degustation menu and were not disappointed. The veal was fantastic! It was a wonderful surprise that the restaurant had relocated and now has fantastic harbour views towards Clontarf. The only little glitch was some of the drink service was a little disorganised, but as they have only been at the new venue a few days this was easily forgiven. I would thoroughly recommend Cala Luna for any occasion!

We have been to Calaluna several times and had not realised they'd moved. We booked for a milestone birthday celebration lunch using a Ouffer voucher and were really pleasantly surprised and impressed by new location with gorgeous views and fabulous fit out. Service was attentive but not intrusive and food was to die for! We will definitely be back! Thanks Michel and staff for making my special day even more special :)

I dined at Cala Luna's new venue last night and I was very impressed! Their new location is right on the water at Middle Harbour Yacht Club (just around the corner from their other location) and with a table right on the balcony, I was literally a stone throw away from the water. Their food is still the same amazing standard. This time I ordered the calamari for entree and barramundi for main. The calamari was crispy and light and I could really taste the freshness of the barramundi. Overall, I highly recommend Cala Luna and I am definitely going to try their new pizzeria too.

A great place to eat and enjoy good food. The food was outstanding the service terrific, ambiance is good but it can get noisy and no water view was disappointing. Overall we thought it was good value for money and we will definitely be back to try more of the menu. I believe they are moving down the spit about 200 meters so hopefully there will be water views to enhance the experience.
