Been here few times, and honestly, the best fun ever! The food is made with love by Chris, and it shows. Great food and value for money. I had my hen party here, and everyone was astonished at how little it was, since we had nearly everything on the menu, and Chris made it a very funfilled night!
Will be back again for more of the good stuff. Don't be in a rush to go somewhere; relax and enjoy the ambience and you'll get the essence of this place.
Been here a couple of times and loving the pate! Have tried the goats cheese stack too which is delightful (but a little too rich for me, which is a little contradictory since I love the pate). The mains are good - not exceptional or maybe I did not select well but I've always been more enamored by their entrees.
The second time I was there, there was a jazz singer which added to the cosiness of the place. With or without him, I always felt real comfortable in Zimt - to sink into a chair, crack open a bottle of wine and chat the night away.
And for those girls/boys out there who likes European accents, pay this place a visit... and check out the waiter.
Visited this place last Saturday for dinner and was pretty disappointed with the overall experience. Food tasted good. However, overall service and the ambience were poor. Most of the time, the staff and their mates sat outside the cafe smoking and drinking at one of the tables.
To our horror we found cockroaches roaming freely on the walls!!! When complained, the waiter simply blamed in on the house next door and walked outside to join his mates. Not worth visiting.
I came to this cafe just by chance with a couple of friends just recently. Now, I am a pretty tough critic at the best of times but this place left a great impression. The service was wonderful, they were booked out but found room for us. The entertainment was great with a jazzsinger singing everyone's favourite songs. The food was sensational and good value for money. I strongly recommend Cafe Zimt, it is ideal for young couples.
After reading the good reviews we took two of our friends here on Sunday for brunch. Well I must say how disappointed we all were with the service and food. We waited more than one hour for our eggs which were served cold. I don't mind waiting for food if you have a drink/coffee to sip on while waiting, however, after ordering our food the waiters did not come back to our table until they delivered the meals. What amazed me is that they still kept accepting new diners when they couldn't even look after the ones in the cafe already.
It looked as if the kitchen staff were not prepared for breakfast. The kitchen is not set up to be a commercial kitchen, I suggest the owner/cook invest in a proper cook top and try cooking with gas. We won't be back.
A very unique little restaurant. The food is excellent. At times they run out of bakeries, which is a pity. The service is warm and informal. It's great for breakfast, snacks and dinner.
My boyfriend and I have been to cafe Zimt five or six times and each time has been brilliant. My boyfriend is vegetarian so when we visit we ask Chris (the chef) to make him anything he feels fancies. Each time a new and inventive dish is presented and we always have a friendly chat with the staff and at times other patrons. Great food at a reasonable price and relaxed atmosphere.
I went to Cafe Zimt last night for the first time for dinner and seriously had one of the best meals I have had in a long time! The waitress was fantastic and so attentive, the food was fabulous (we shared the pate for a starter and it was absolutely divine and then both had the schnitzel) and it's not pretentious or over done, just really, really great food at a good price. Trust me you won't walk away from this place hungry. Highly recommend it and will be back soon, it's my new favourite place!!
Went here last weekend over brunch and I have to say, I've never had such a great experience like that before anywhere! Service was warm, friendly yet not pushy. I had the beautiful mushroom omelettes while my boyfriend had the best poached eggs we ever tried so far! Coffee was also good, compared to the cafe around! Overall its a fantastic experience and can't wait to go back this weekend!!
Have been coming to Cafe Zimt since it first opened as it is close to where I work...needless to say I find the place fantastic. The staff are always attentive albeit sometime OTT but that is what makes Cafe Zimt special. The food has that home cooked feel to it, best coffee in this neck of the woods and it certainly does not make a dent in your wallet. The prices are quite reasonable and inexpensive, this should be on your must visit list for dinner or coffee. I know you will be back just like me. Updated as at September 5th 2007:
Recently I had the opportunity to dine here with a friend, let me say from the outset that the service was just as excellent as my previous visits, the schnitzel was unbelievable, the best I have had for a long time. It all the times that I have been coming I have never once found the staff to be rude or unknowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back and I highly recommend a return visit no matter what other reviews say. The bad reviews are clearly from someone who does not know what they are talking about. Cafe Zimt should definitely be on the must visit list.
