Wow, what a difference a day makes! This place (which has been a favorite for years) has obviously changed hands recently. What a loss to the Victoria St. brunch circuit. Too bad.
I highly recommend the caramelised pears on sour cherry toast. What a way to start the day! Staff forgot my second coffee order but cheerfully offered to give me a takeaway, free of charge. I'll be back, but in warmer weather! The sun never shines on nest, so, perhaps, they could follow the recent trend of placing throws over outdoor chairs to keep diners warm. Fantastic!
Update November 2008: Watch out, management has changed! Cafe now empty and strange burning/greasy smell is around. I'm sad I didn't have a chance to say goodbye!
Went here for breakfast with friends and was sorely disappointed. Never thought that ordering a simple ham+cheese+tomato toasted sandwich could be so difficult. After having to give detailed instructions to the waiter on how to make this (oh so difficult!) meal no less than four times, I was finally presented with a ham+cheese+aioli toasted.
When I sent it back it was returned to me with two soggy slices of tomato added, and still with the aioli... how hard is it?? The ingredients were scant, and poor quality. The bread was soggy, and it was poorly made. For top dollar you should really expect more.
When we got our bill we had been overcharged on three items, and it took the guy two more goes to get it right. Service was slow as a wet week. How they can justify a 10% Saturday surcharge I have no idea. We shall definitely not be going back.
Great breakfast/lunch venue. Every time I eat here I am amazed at the level of care that goes into the breakfasts.
Slightly more expensive than other places in the surrounding areas but that is more than made up for by the organic produce and homemade quality of the food served.
Worth the trip particularly on a sunny day to take advantage of the new outdoor dining area.
I LURVE going here for a spoilt breakfast! I am addicted to the poached ginger pears with marscapone on sour cherry toast. The Best. And great Campos coffee.
I'm so pleased this little gem has finally opened for dinner. But you have to be quick to get a table as it's only open Wed to Fri in the eve. I've had two amazing meals here in the past two weeks and I can't fault it in anyway. Keep up the good work!
Now that they've moved (just next door) the space whilst bigger has lost a little bit of the quaintness that made this place such a good find. Nonetheless, the food and coffee are still fantastic - an enthusiastic recommendation.
