I have been to Cafe Mint many times for brunch, but until recently had only been for dinner once (at least eighteen months ago). My partner and I have been twice in the last few weeks, and I was happily reminded just how fantastic it is, I think it is one of the best meals out in Surry Hills.
The service is always friendly, and the food on both our recent visits was so good, I practically had the same meal twice! Of course, the space/no bookings policy has its limitations, but on the whole I think Cafe Mint offers excellent value for money, particularly for a delicious mid-week meal.
I really enjoyed myself here. The service is friendly and the food is so tasty! I kind of wishe the menu had more variety because it's hard to suit a bunch of people eating out who want to share but we all really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely come back.
Mint is one of my favourite locals for dinner (have never been here during the day). It has helped me realise why people love to eat out every night of the week, and it doesn't have to be grandiose. I personally find the food original, scrumptious, and the portions large enough without obscuring the chance of dessert. Having been here about 10 times, my guests do tend to choose the ravioli with spiced lamb mince and they always love it, as do I. I also can't resist the asparagus for entree. You actually can't go wrong.
The chairs are uniformly comfortable and it is a little crowded if full. On the bright side, it's small and so easy to get the attention of the waitstaff who obviously don't take things too seriously and therefore do a good job. Also, it's BYO and there are many bottle-o's close by. If you don't like smokers, don't sit outside, they are everywhere on Crown Street.
The staff at Mint are the best I have ever come across, they are so attentive and just so nice, I have never had bad experience here. The mains are very filling and are good value. I have dined here several times and find the food to be outstanding.
A nice feel to arty feel to the place all round, from its food to its staff to the decor and location. Nice different flavours, but nothing out of this world. Great for a quick bite to eat at lunch if your in the area.
Fantastic, I just love the scrambled eggs with mint or the birchler muesli! I went there several times over the last couple of months and I am addicted!!! Best value for money-great breakfast!
Most of the reviewers only write about breakfast here, but their lunch and dinner menus are very special and unique. I would call it Modern Middle Eastern, very refined, not common kebab shop food.
Service is hit-and miss, food is excellent and value is good. They don't take bookings so go early for dinner, otherwise you will have to wait. One more quibble - the seating is very congested, they can't help it, they have very limited place. If they took bookings I would dine here at least once a week, I love it so much.
