I must start by saying I've been to this restaurant many times in the past. It has been a family favourite for a long time. However, my more recent experiences here haven't been that great at all.
Yesterday I along with ten friends went here for dinner. On a night where the restaurant was half full it took repeated waves to try and get the assistance of the wait staff. This didn't work and so I had to get up and actually ask someone to come and serve us. We were not the only people that had this problem. The couple on the table beside us walked out because of not receiving service.
The food was fairly good. Portions were large and most of us were more than satisfied. I had my favorite capriciosa pizza which was pretty good. For dessert I had the baked ricotta cheese cake and a latte. The cake was dry and bland. Even the size of the portion did not make up for the poor quality. The latte was served very luke warm with hardly any coffee.
Over all I have been disappointed. I might add its not the first time I've been disappointed by dining here but I always try to give places a second chance having previously worked in the industry.
I ate here last week with my family and it was great!!! The tortellini was amazing yum yum yum!!!!! Great service, friendly staff, will definitley come again for that torellini!!
Pizza was perfect and the Spaghetti marinara that my niece had was one of the best she has tried.
I have read the positives & negatives about this cafe. I've been here three times because I like the pizzas & calzone. I went again last night with six friends and the service has improved. I have not tried any other dishes but may consider doing so if I go again.
Coffee is nice but should be hotter. Especially like the ambience of the place (outside dining) in the warmer months and there is alway the Harbour Room on the colder nights. The prices could be cheaper though.
Had a party on a saturday night with a big group, was quite impressed on the overall speed in which we got served and the timing off the food, considering how busy the place is.
Average, average, average. I wouldn't bother having anything off the menu here when there are so many other cheaper and tastier options on Norton. Pizzas are ok for takeaway, don't know what John Paul II was taking about with the amazing ambience bit.
Best pizza I have had in a very very long time!! Pasta was ok, nothing to write home about. Service is good if they are not busy. A little noisy inside with lots of kids running around. Strongly recommend for pizza and to sit outside!
Ambience breathtaking? It's a converted servo with a pool fence surrounding it! Come on people! Pizza here is good, pasta is so-so, service is crap. I say grab takeaway.
I was here on a friday night last week and was there with a girl I was trying to impress. Although the food was terrific we had a pizza and salad, the service was shocking. The waiter seemed to be constantly making moves on the girl I was with and I could see him staring at us while talking amongst other staff, he apparently made a mistake with our order so we had to wait to have it re-made.
There were kids running around uncontrollably and there was a homeless man coming in asking us for money, overall the night was a waste of time and money, I was embarrassed and frustrated and so was my company, This is the last time I go back there.
