Went here for breakfast last Sunday. Service was quick for ordering but took a long time for it to arrive given that there were only two other tables occupied at the time. Food was terrible, in particular the pancakes. Very overpriced for the kind of food served up, about $47 for 2 people. Hated the surcharge for Sunday (which is not displayed anywhere) and only cash. Lucky i had cash on me. We live in the mountains and like to support local business but we will not be back to this one.
Outrageous prices. Food was very general. Dessert was only half serves compared to other places, and double the price! Not recommended for anyone who wants a quick meal, or value for their money.
Waited 1 hour for toasted sandwiches and then one was forgotten. Iced coffees seemed to be made with a sweet coffee syrup not an espresso shot...yuk. Service was very disorganised and a bit of a pain that they only take cash- (it's 2009!) Very expensive for a pretty simple meal. Not a place that I would recommend!
The food is great, if a little overpriced, and the ambience is lovely and cosy. We went there when it was snowing and sat in front of the fire for a while. Bliss!
Unfortunately that was short-lived. We moved to a table and were ignored for a long while. We didn't mind; it was a busy day and we were enjoying watching the snow falling on Katoomba Street. When we were finally seen to the waiter kept bothering us to order, a bit rich when we didn't get a menu for half an hour. I understand that customers who pore interminably over the bill of fare are awful but we barely had a chance to read it. He was horribly rude and argumentative for no good reason!
The coffee was good and the food was tasty. I recommend the bacon and egg rolls. The ploughman's lunch is superb! The value is okay. I recommend you go there, but only if that horrible old man has the day off. He obviously needs it.
When we arrived in this cafe we were ushered to the coffee lounge as there were no available tables, which is a nice touch but the service we got was awful. Firstly the staff member was rude! Then once our table was ready we sat for 15 minutes with no menus before the waiter came to take our orders we could not order as we had not seen a menu! Finally we ordered our meals and coffee and waited another 20 minutes to get the coffee before our food.
The food I have to say was delicious but when we asked could they wipe our table down as it had not been done from when the last customers had finished there meal the waitress sigh was unmistakable as if we had inconvenienced her for asking for a clean table. When we finished eating we wanted water and we were afraid to ask the waitress as she was just ice cold.
When we went to pay for our meal they would not take credit cards and when we tried to give cash we were told no big notes as they had no change? On a whole the food was beautiful but the service was so bad that I don’t think I would ever eat there again. I was really disappointed with it and would not recommend it to anybody.
Despite the food was really good, the service was awful. The waiters are unfriendly and make you feel unconfortable. You leave the place with a bad feeling (but the stomach full ).
Food was really yummy and great cosy cafe. Did have to wait for meal for way too long and I was starving so I wasn't impressed! However again really yummy. Think it was a little overpriced and then surcharge on Sundays although everyone in the Mountains does it. Not sure why the usual pricing sure would cover overheads.
The food was good. It did take 45 minutes but worth it. Didn't mind the wait. The service was very poor. I was just asking if they took EFTPOS. The man at register tried to ARGUE a story of why they didn't accept cards. Big deal mate. Just take my money.
