If you are looking for a relaxed Italian experience in the Lower North Shore, but with a hint of sophistication and quality food then this is the place. The staff are always friendly, and the Penne Vodka is just wonderful, having said that most of the options here are great. Must have been there ten times and have not had a bad night yet - byo too!

This is a family favourite of ours. Veal Trifolato very memorable and delicious. Very popular local that we visit regularly. Nice staff too.

What a terrific find! The New Zealand grilled sole was incredible, as was our pasta dish.

Our local Italian and it's been great on every visit. The staff are exceptionally friendly. Love the tuna carpacio, veal and fish dishes and my other half reckons they do the best chocolate mousse!

Loved the food here, the tuna Carpaccio is amazing as is the calamari, steak was cooked to perfection and the pasta is great but u really only need a small portion. Home made tiramisu was the best. Top marks, could do with a few candles or something to set the atmosphere though.

Cafe Sapori is our 'local Italian' but the food and service were extremely disappointing. Once we had ordered, our waiter completely ignored us for the rest of the evening. We ordered what was described as whitebait fritters on the menu as an entree for our young daughter but when it came to the table, it was actually whitebait in a frittata style oily, inedible batter. Our entrees were not too much better.
Our main courses were also very disappointing. My husband had veal strips served in a lemon sauce. This dish was so heavily seasoned with lemon that it was inedible. I had a blackboard special which was described as grilled fish with a herb crust. When it appeared at the table, the herb crust was actually cheese mixed with tomato paste & the fish was served on a scattering of wilted salad leaves.
When we tried to attract a waiter's attention to get the bill at the end of our meal, we had to interrupt him while he was walking through the restaurant & speaking on his mobile phone! I certainly would not recommend this sad place mistakenly called a restaurant, to anyone at all.

Looked cosy and enticing on the outside, but inside was less comfortable. $28 pasta prices seemed a little steep, but would be easily acceptable IF the pasta was delectable. The seafood linguine was not. The prawns were close cousins of the dried shrimp, the scallops (more roe than scallop) were overcooked and rubbery, the mussels were OK, and the flavours were dull.
My partner's chicken involtini was edible, stuffed with swiss cheese, but the odd match of frittata did the dish no favours. Next time if I want a hearty pasta with juicy king prawns, I'll head to Sopranos up the road, for a genuine italian experience.

We had quite a negative experience when dining with friends here. It took over 30 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge our arrival and provide menus and drinks. My husband ordered a chicken lasagne for entree and was provided with a beef lasagne. I order garlic prawns and the first prawn I picked up was raw on the inside - on explaining this to the waiter, he looked quite disgruntled and took it away, only to re-present the exact same dish but with the prawn in question having been cooked and re-added.
When the mains arrived, again my husband was given a different dish to the one had had ordered, so that had to be sent back to the kitchen. Not surprisingly, we then didn't feel much like tipping when it came to paying the bill. As we were leaving, a waitress came up and asked if we had had any issues with the evening, as she was obviously surprised that there had been no tip when she looked at our payment. Needless to say, we won't be rushing back!

Cafe Sapori is a new found fabulous local restaurant! I thoroughly enjoyed the food, which had a homestyle flavours - my husband had the seafood marinara which he said was excellent, and I had the canneloni - a lovely meal. Very generous portions and very reasonably priced. A bubbling cosy atmosphere, the wait staff were excellent.
