Best pepper steak in Sydney. Have eaten there on 3 occasions and the pepper steak is always delicious... Very sad to hear about the closure... Will they be opening again? Or has the chef moved on?

Being born in Romania, I can say I was very excited to hear that there is a restaurant in Sydney (albeit at Parramatta) that serves some Romanian dishes. Two friends and I went there for lunch on a weekend. It didn't appear too busy and the owner or manager was out front with menus in her hand, ready to place them into the hands of passing strangers. We ordered one main each ($10 lunch special) and then one serving of 'mititei' which were basically chevapcici. For some reasons, this was charged at $17, something we were not warned about or maybe unaware of in our blanket assumption that all dishes were $10. I also had a glass of sweet white Romanian wine which made me feel great!

The restaurant's décor seemed to be its strongest point. I imagine at night when it is buzzing with business, it would have a great mood. My biggest disappointment was the food itself, the thing I had been most looking forward to. For example, my friend's 'transylvanian goulash' came out stone cold and could not be differentiated from a Maggi curry-in-a-packet and my other friend had fried pork-chops. All I can say is that Rodica's is very close to the Romanian cooking I ate whilst in Romania: very bland! I was quite happy with my dish though, the 'sarmale' (stuffed cabbage rolls). They tasted just like my mamma makes which made me happy! And they weren't cold. Pity there were only two. I think it's worth going to once, for the very curious but beside that, get a Romanian cookbook and make it yourself that's what I'll be doing!

From all the restaurants in Parramatta that I have tried, Rodica's restaurant is the best. The food is wonderful, the ambience is pretty good, the sevice is not bad and the value is just right. I must say that Rodica's restaurant has the highest quality of food in Parramatta!!

I must agree that the Pepper Steak is excellent! Other dishes are also of high quality but shame about the service.

Very true, like the above reviewers, I can say they have one of the best steaks in Sydney, I've ever had and being a meat eater, I can say I know my meat!! And yes, even the veg and chats are delicious. The pepper sauce is a heaven match with the generous, gorgeous, piece of very tender, juicy eye fillet. If only they were to open another restaurant in city. Parramatta is too far!! Yum!

The pepper steak was so magnificent and even the potatoes & veges hidden under the steak were of a high standard.

I must say, I'm a fan as well. A fan of the pepper steak like the reviewer below. It's a pretty good feed in Parramatta at a pretty good price.

This place has the best pepper steak I have ever tasted. Been so many times yet the quality is invariably excellent - their steak is very very tender and the pepper sauce is incredible - matches the steak perfectly. Service is always courteous but being on church st there are always hoons flooring their sport exhausts making it very noisy especially for the curbside seating. If you are in Parramatta, this is worth a try, always busy and always high quality food.
