Set in breathtaking 19th Century architecture, Cafe Opera undoubtedly forms the perfect venue for any occasion. Enjoy a truly unique, seasonally inspired, interactive buffet with live cooking stations and theatrical dessert displays. Tamas Pamer, Executive Head Chef, comments, “We change the buffet daily to ensure we only use the freshest ingredients”. Cafe Opera’s team of committed chefs are dedicated in the search for the freshest ingredients available in Sydney’s local markets.
As well as an exquisite buffet the restaurant also offers a creative French-inspired à la carte menu. Tamas Pamer and Executive Sous Chef, Julien Pouteau have drawn on their experiences working in Michelin Star restaurants across Europe to produce a unique and contemporary styled menu to tickle anyone’s tastebuds.
The array of design elements - from the camelback sofa, antique mirrors and European patisserie down to the market-style chalkboard buffet labels – immediately communicate a departure from tradition hotel dining.

Like any other 5 star joints, do not patron on a Monday. The seafood and any other hot food offering is the worst on the known universe. Take this advice not from me but a second hand advice from Anthony Bourdain (reknowned chef from NY). Any other day, the seafood is absolutely gorgeous. The dessert is a wide array of sinful food. Check that table out before you start on the main. The price is $49.50 for buffet dinner which includes factory standard of coffee and tea. Sunday buffet lunch comes with a complimentary glass of bubbly at $55.00 per pop. The staff are usually good but whatever it is - avoid Mondays. I have been frequenting for 10 years and I was silly (and desperate enough) to go last Monday.

Every dining experience here is wondeful. Either buffet or a la carte, the food is beautifully prepared and presented. The standard of service is particularly high and this restaurant is our favourite place for special occasions. The extensive menu choices means that all tastes can be met. The staff are very welcoming and attentive.

The buffet at Cafe Opera is one of my absolute favourite dining experiences. A fine selection of seafood (oysters and prawns being the highlight), sushi & sashimi, salads, breads, and of course the wonderful desert bar for everybody with a sweet tooth or two or three. A bit on the pricey side perhaps, but well worth it for that special occasion (birthdays are especially great). The stylish set up and lovely ambience only adds to the experience. If you love seafood and sushi/sashimi with a touch of class...you won't be disappointed.
