Really uncomfortable experience here recently! I ordered a vegetarian dish but when it arrived was full of meat! I explained this was not what I had ordered and I am vegetarian so cannot eat it. The waitress insisted that the other waiter said it was what I had ordered and we 'can't just take things back when people order the wrong thing'.

I refused to pay for something that I did not order nor touch and she made me very uncomfortable calling me rude and saying 'the cafe will lose money because of you' and 'it is so impolite of you'. Well I definitely won't be eating here again and either will my friends!

Came here for the first time on a Tuesday morning for breakfast. I have to say I was really surprised at all the positive reviews. The food was pretty terrible! I ordered the Eggs Newtown and my husband ordered the Breakfast Bruschetta. I couldn't believe it when my dish was brought out. Packet hollandaise? Are you kidding me? I expect that in Richmond but not Newtown!

I knew I should have asked if it was fresh but I assumed it would be be. I'll never assume again now! The rest of my dish was ordinary but you can't really get it wrong. Grilled tomato, hash browns, toast and spinach. My husband didn't enjoy his meal either. All the tomato was old and overripe to the point where they have become 'squishy'.

The chorizo was cheap and dry (I had a taste and it was the worst chorizo I had ever eaten!). The mushrooms looked and tasted like they had come straight from a can.
The first sip of coffee was bitter, however after that it was nice. Maybe it was over extracted? Pretty disappointed overall.

I've been going to Cafe Newtown quite often lately. It's very spacious, nice and cosy. The food is good and comes out promptly. The staff do the job well but it wouldn't hurt for them to smile and stop being so serious!. But I can kind of understand, that is Sydney for you.

Definitely one of the better Cafe's in Newtown. Great coffee. Live music. We went one sat night and there was a Reggae band playing. This place has a great atmosphere and vibe to it. The restaurant was full and there were even people dancing on the streets. We ordered the meat platter, it was a very generous serving and def great value.

For dessert I ordered a earl grey tea creme brulee, which just hit the spot. The service was great which made our experience even more enjoyable. I would def recommend this place.

Great coffee. Live music. Went one sat night and there was reggae on. Place was packed and people dancing in the streets. This place has a great atmosphere and vibe to it and is def worth going. The Meat platter was tasty, lots of variety, a very generous serving and reasonably priced. I recommend this place to everyone there is lots of variety on the menu and they are very well priced. Creme brûlée was a big hit!

I went to hear some live jazz which was great. However, I also found the staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was good and the prices very reasonable. I could not fault the service either. The only drawback was that the musicians were playing outside on a very busy corner so that there was lots of traffic noise. I throughly recommend the place.

I frequent here quite often (ever since the renovation), the place is well polished and has a grunge feel to it, love that! Have had many drinks after work here, brekkie and lunch (lunch-only once). Love it, good variety and priced fairly. Staff are friendly and a convenient spot in newtown to meet up with friends.
